Fiber optic connector assemblies with cable boot release
Abstract
Connector assemblies are described herein. For example, a connector assembly including: a housing configured to accept a first ferrule and a second ferrule. The connector assembly may also have a push/pull clip that is configure to depress a protrusion that rotates down a connector device to remove the connector assembly from an adapter. The push/pull clip is integrated with a cable boot assembly that allows a user to apply a distal force to remove or insert the connector assembly into the adapter housing. The push/pull clip is configured for use to release a MPO and LC connector type from an adapter.
Claims
exact text as granted — not AI-modifiedWhat is claimed is:
1 . A push-pull clip comprising:
a first end; the first end further comprises an opening at a first surface configured to accept a protrusion and the protrusion is part of a connection device; and wherein the push-pull clip is releasably secured to a cable boot.
2 . The push-pull clip according to claim 1 , wherein the cable boot has a recess configured to accept a pair of wings at a second end of the push-pull clip.
3 . The push-pull clip according to claim 2 , wherein the wing has at least one cut-out on an inner surface of the pair of wings.
4 . The push-pull clip according to claim of 3 , wherein the cable boot has a second recess to accept the at least one cut-out.
5 . A fiber optic connector for insertion into an adapter, the adapter having at least one latch, the connector comprising:
an outer housing with an opening along a side, an inner housing comprising at least one ferrule and a back body; a cable boot assembly having at least one protrusion and a longitudinal bore, the cable boot assembly is configured to attached to the outer housing; and wherein the cable boot assembly is configured to move longitudinally about the back body; thereby, releasing the fiber optic connector from the adapter.
6 . The fiber optic connector according to claim 5 , wherein the cable boot assembly has two or more protrusions.
7 . The fiber optic connector according to claim 6 , wherein the protrusion is substantially within the opening.
8 . The fiber optic connector according to claim 7 , wherein the outer housing has two or more openings.
9 . The fiber optic connector according to claim 6 ,
wherein the ferrule which is one of mechanical transfer ferrule, a standard connector ferrule and a ferrule.
10 . A fiber optic connector resulting in the configuration of claim 5 .
11 . A method of releasing a fiber optic connector from an adapter comprising:
providing the fiber optic connector of claim 10 ; and releasing the fiber optic connector which is one of pulling on the cable boot assembly, a cable and the outer housing.Join the waitlist — get patent alerts
