Abstract
The present invention relates to a process for the treatment of a gas stream containing nitrogen oxides comprising the steps of: (1) providing a gas stream containing one or more nitrogen oxides; (2) contacting the gas stream provided in step (1) with a transition metal containing zeolitic material having a BEA-type framework structure for reacting one or more of the nitrogen oxides; wherein the zeolitic material is obtainable from an organotemplate-free synthetic process, as well as to an apparatus for the treatment of a gas stream comprising containing nitrogen oxides.

31 . Apparatus for the treatment of a gas stream containing nitrogen oxides, the apparatus comprising:
(i) a catalyst bed provided in fluid contact with the gas stream to be treated; wherein the catalyst bed comprises a transition metal containing zeolitic material having a BEA-type framework structure, the zeolitic material being obtainable from an organotemplate-free synthetic process.
32 . The apparatus of claim 31 , wherein the catalyst bed is a fixed bed catalyst or a fluidized bed catalyst.
33 . The apparatus of claim 31 further comprising:
(ii) one or more devices provided upstream of the catalyst bed for injecting one or more reducing agents into the gas stream.
34 . The apparatus of claim 31 , wherein the one or more transition metals contained in the zeolitic material is selected from the group consisting of Co, Ni, Cu, Fe, Ag, Au, Pt, Pd, Rh and combinations of two or more thereof.
35 . The apparatus of claim 31 , wherein the one or more transition metals are contained in the zeolitic material as non-framework elements.
36 . The apparatus of claim 31 , wherein the BEA-type framework structure of the zeolitic material comprises YO 2 and X 2 O 3 , wherein Y is a tetravalent element, and X is a trivalent element.
37 . The apparatus of claim 31 , wherein Y is selected from the group consisting of Si, Sn, Ti, Zr, Ge, and a mixture of two or more thereof.
38 . The apparatus of claim 31 , wherein X is selected from the group consisting of Al, B, In, Ga, and a mixture of two or more thereof.
39 . The apparatus of claim 31 , wherein the YO 2 :X 2 O 3 molar ratio ranges from 2 to 100.
40 . The apparatus of claim 31 , wherein the molar ratio of the one or more transition metals to X 2 O 3 comprised in the BEA-type framework structure ranges from 0.005 to 10.
41 . The apparatus of claim 31 , wherein the X-ray diffraction pattern of the zeolitic material having a BEA-type framework structure comprises at least the following reflections:
