Systems and methods for serving online content based on user engagement duration
Abstract
An engagement time computer system for serving online content based on user engagement duration includes an output device, at least one memory, and one or more processors. The processors are configured to determine a historical engagement time of an online user and to identify a plurality of online content items. Each online content item of the plurality of online content items has a target engagement time. The processors are further configured to receive a request for a content item. The request is associated with the online user. The processors are also configured to select a first online content item from the plurality of online content items based at least in part on the historical engagement time of the online user and the target engagement time of the first online content item and to transmit the first online content item for display to the online user.
Claims
exact text as granted — not AI-modified1 .- 23 . (canceled)
24 . A system to serve online content, comprising:
a data processing system comprising memory and one or more processors to:
identify a request for an additional content item for presentation via a head-mounted computing device with a first content item presented via the head-mounted computing device;
determine, based on consumption data associated with the head-mounted computing device and the first content item, a duration for the additional content item;
select, based on the duration, a second content item for presentation via the head-mounted computing device;
transmit the first content item to the head-mounted computing device; and
provide the second content item for output by the head-mounted computing device.
25 . The system of claim 24 , comprising:
the data processing system to provide the second content item to cause the head-mounted computing device to present the second content item along with the first content item.
26 . The system of claim 24 , comprising:
the data processing system to provide the second content item to cause the head-mounted computing device to present the second content item subsequent to the first content item.
27 . The system of claim 24 , comprising:
the data processing system to provide the second content item to cause the head-mounted computing device to present the second content item prior to the first content item.
28 . The system of claim 24 , wherein the second content item comprises an image.
29 . The system of claim 24 , wherein the first content item comprises video.
30 . The system of claim 24 , wherein the first content item comprises video and the second content item comprises an image.
31 . The system of claim 24 , wherein the second content item corresponds to a commercial promotion.
32 . The system of claim 24 , comprising:
the data processing system to select the second content item based at least on a keyword associated with the first content item.
33 . The system of claim 24 , comprising:
the data processing system to select the second content item based on one or more criteria using a content selection process.
34 . The system of claim 24 , comprising:
the data processing system to provide the second content item for output via the head-mounted computing device within a time period having the determined duration.
35 . The system of claim 24 , comprising the data processing system to:
identify, based on the consumption data associated with the head-mounted computing device, an engagement time; and determine the duration for the additional content item based on the engagement time.
36 . The system of claim 24 , comprising the data processing system to:
identify, a target engagement time for each of a plurality of content items; and select, based on the duration, the second content item from the plurality of content items based on the target engagement time of the second content item.
37 . The system of claim 24 , comprising the data processing system to:
receive, from the head-mounted computing device, digitized audible information; and identify the request for the additional content item based on the digitized audible information.
38 . The system of claim 24 , comprising:
the data processing system to select the duration based on a category associated with the first content item.
39 . A method of serving online content, comprising:
identifying, by a data processing system comprising memory and one or more processors, a request for an additional content item for presentation via a head-mounted computing device with a first content item presented via the head-mounted computing device; determining, by the data processing system, based on consumption data associated with the head-mounted computing device and the first content item, a duration for the additional content item; selecting, by the data processing system based on the duration, a second content item for presentation via the head-mounted computing device; transmitting, by the data processing system, the first content item to the head-mounted computing device; and providing, by the data processing system, the second content item for output by the head-mounted computing device.
40 . The method of claim 39 , comprising:
providing, by the data processing system, the second content item to cause the head-mounted computing device to present the second content item along with the first content item.
41 . The method of claim 39 , wherein the first content item comprises video and the second content item comprises an image.
42 . The method of claim 39 , comprising:
identifying, by the data processing system based on the consumption data associated with the head-mounted computing device, an engagement time; and determining, by the data processing system, the duration for the additional content item based on the engagement time.
43 . The method of claim 39 , comprising:
receiving, by the data processing system from the head-mounted computing device, digitized audible information; and identifying, by the data processing system, the request for the additional content item based on the digitized audible information.Join the waitlist — get patent alerts
