Abstract

The present disclosure is directed to a target support system. The target support system includes a support that is operationally configured to hold one or more projectile targets.

Claims

exact text as granted — not AI-modified
We claim:

         1 . A target system, including:
one or more targets; and a support for the one or more targets including a main body having a front surface, a rear surface, one or more openings there through, one or more rear surface items including one or more landing surfaces operationally configured to hold the one or more targets at the one or more openings; wherein the main body includes an inner section and an outer section covering the inner section.

2 . The target system of claim 1 wherein the one or more landing members includes one or more frame type members corresponding to the one or more openings.

3 . The target system of claim 1 wherein the rear surface items further include one or more backing members disposed along the rear surface.

4 . The target system of claim 2 wherein at least part of the one or more frame type members includes one or more elongated members disposed along the rear surface.

5 . The target system of claim 1 wherein the inner section is polystyrene foam and the outer section includes one or more flowable coatings.

6 . The target system of claim 5 wherein the inner section of the main body is constructed from extruded polystyrene foam.

7 . The target system of claim 6 wherein the outer section of the main body is a polyurea spray coating.

8 . The target system of claim 7 wherein the inner section and outer section define the thickness of the main body and wherein the outer section comprises from about three percent to about twelve percent of the thickness of the main body.

9 . The target system of claim 1 wherein the inner section is polystyrene foam and the outer section includes a coating comprising (1) a first component comprising 37.0-61.0 percent Propanol [(1-methyl-1,2-ethanediyl)bis(oxy)] bis-polymer with 1,1′-methylenebis [isocyanateobenzene] and oxybis [propanol], 30.0-60.0 percent 4,4′-Methylenediphenyl Diisocyanate, and 4.0-10.0 percent Carbonic acid, cyclic propylene ester and (2) a second component comprising 10.0-24.0 percent Diethyltoluendediamine, 3.0-7.0 percent Carbon Black, and 0.0-0.6 percent Silica, crystalline.

10 . The target system of claim 1 wherein the one or more rear surface items further include one or more stake holders secured to the rear surface.

11 . The target system of claim 4 wherein the inner section is constructed of foam and the outer section includes a polyurea spray coating covering the inner section, wherein the thickness of the outer section covering the inner section along an outer perimeter of the one or more rear surface items at a junction with the inner section is greater than the thickness of the outer section covering the remaining area of the inner section.

12 . A support for holding a projectile target, including:
a main body having (1) an outlay design; (2) a front surface having an appearance corresponding to the outlay design; (3) an opening located along the main body according to the outlay design and front surface appearance of the main body; and (4) a rear surface; and a frame type member secured to the rear surface of the main body and operationally configured to hold a projectile target at the opening, the frame type member including one or more elongated members further operable as backing members disposed along the rear surface according to the outlay design.

13 . The support of claim 12 wherein the main body includes an inner section of polystyrene foam and an outer section including a spray coating applied to the polystyrene foam, the spray coating being operationally configured to adhere the frame type member to the main body.

14 . A method of making a support for a projectile target, comprising:
forming a main body of a support including one or more openings in the main body and one or more rear surface items from a single sheet of closed cell extruded polystyrene foam; assembling the main body and one or more rear surface items to form an inner section of the main body; and spraying a coating onto the main body and one or more rear surface items to form an outer section of the main body.

15 . The method of claim 14 wherein the forming step includes providing a single sheet of closed cell extruded polystyrene foam having a thickness from 2.0 inches to 4.0 inches.

16 . The method of claim 14 wherein the assembling step includes assembling the rear surface items to the main body via adhesive.

17 . The method of claim 14 wherein the spraying step includes providing a coating comprising (1) a first component comprising 37.0-61.0 percent Propanol [(1-methyl-1,2-ethanediyl)bis(oxy)] bis-polymer with 1,1′-methylenebis [isocyanateobenzene] and oxybis [propanol], 30.0-60.0 percent 4,4′-Methylenediphenyl Diisocyanate, and 4.0-10.0 percent Carbonic acid, cyclic propylene ester and (2) a second component comprising 10.0-24.0 percent Diethyltoluendediamine, 3.0-7.0 percent Carbon Black, and 0.0-0.6 percent Silica, crystalline.

18 . The method of claim 17 wherein the spraying step includes mixing the first component and the second component at a constant temperature of 155.0° F.

19 . The method of claim 14 wherein the forming step includes forming one or more rear surface items including one or more stake holders and a frame type member including one or more elongated members operable as backing members for the main body.
