Abstract
A system and method for scheduling a transmission of an uplink message in a communication system. An example method includes scheduling transmission of an uplink message having a duration less than a subframe length and receiving the uplink message. In certain embodiments, the uplink message may be scheduled to begin with a symbol that is between boundaries of a subframe, span a boundary between the subframe and a subsequent subframe, and end with another symbol that is between boundaries of the subsequent subframe.
Claims
exact text as granted — not AI-modifiedWhat is claimed is:
1 . A method for scheduling transmission of an uplink message in a wireless communications network, the method comprising:
scheduling transmission of an uplink message having a duration less than a subframe length; and receiving the uplink message, wherein the uplink message is scheduled to begin with a symbol that is between boundaries of a subframe, span a boundary between the subframe and a subsequent subframe, and end with another symbol that is between boundaries of the subsequent subframe.
2 . The method as recited in claim 1 wherein the beginning and ending symbols are orthogonal frequency division multiplexing (OFDM) symbols associated with the uplink message.
3 . The method as recited in claim 1 further comprising providing a downlink control information (DCI) message on another symbol that is between the boundaries of the subframe, wherein the uplink message is scheduled for transmission according to uplink message scheduling information indicated by the DCI message.
4 . The method as recited in claim 1 wherein the scheduling further comprises scheduling of a guard period at a beginning of the subframe.
5 . The method as recited in claim 1 further comprising scheduling transmission of a hybrid automatic repeat request message relative to the transmission of the uplink message.
6 . The method as recited in claim 1 wherein the scheduling further comprises selecting a duration of the uplink message.
7 . The method as recited in claim 1 wherein the method is performed in a radio access node of a communication system.
8 . An apparatus configured to schedule transmission of an uplink message in a wireless communications network, the apparatus comprising:
a processor; and a memory including computer program code, wherein the processor, the memory, and the computer program code are collectively operable to:
schedule transmission of an uplink message having a duration less than a subframe length,
wherein the uplink message is scheduled to begin with a symbol that is between boundaries of a subframe, span a boundary between the subframe and a subsequent subframe, and end with another symbol that is between boundaries of the subsequent subframe.
9 . The apparatus as recited in claim 8 wherein the beginning and ending symbols are OFDM symbols associated with the uplink message.
10 . The apparatus as recited in claim 8 wherein the memory and the computer program code are further configured to, with the processor, cause the apparatus to provide a downlink control information (DCI) message on another symbol that is between the boundaries of the subframe, wherein the uplink message is scheduled for transmission according to uplink message scheduling information indicated by the DCI message.
11 . The apparatus as recited in claim 8 wherein the memory and the computer program code are further configured to, with the processor cause the apparatus to insert a guard period at a beginning of the subframe.
12 . The apparatus as recited in claim 8 wherein the memory and the computer program code are further configured to, with the processor, cause the apparatus to select a duration of the uplink message.
13 . The apparatus as recited in claim 8 wherein the apparatus is embodied in a radio access node of a communication system.
14 . A method for transmitting an uplink message in a wireless communications network, the method comprising:
receiving a scheduling grant for scheduling transmission of an uplink message having a duration less than a subframe length; and transmitting the uplink message, wherein the uplink message is scheduled to begin with a symbol that is between boundaries of a subframe, span a boundary between the subframe and a subsequent subframe, and end with another symbol that is between boundaries of the subsequent subframe.
15 . The method as recited in claim 14 wherein the beginning and ending symbols are OFDM symbols associated with the uplink message.
16 . The method as recited in claim 14 further comprising receiving a DCI message on another symbol that is between the boundaries of the subframe, wherein the uplink message is transmitted according to uplink message scheduling information indicated by the DCI message.
17 . The method as recited in claim 14 wherein the transmitting further comprises inserting a guard period at a beginning of the subframe.
18 . The method as recited in claim 14 wherein the uplink message is transmitted according to a selected duration.
19 . The method as recited in claim 14 wherein the method is performed in a user equipment of a communication system.
20 . An apparatus configured to transmit an uplink message in a wireless communications network, the apparatus comprising:
a processor; and a memory including computer program code, wherein the processor, the memory, and the computer program code are collectively operable to:
receive a scheduling grant for scheduling transmission of an uplink message having a duration less than a subframe length; and
transmit the uplink message,
wherein the uplink message is scheduled to begin with a symbol that is between boundaries of a subframe, span a boundary between the subframe and a subsequent subframe, and end with another symbol that is between boundaries of the subsequent subframe.
21 . The apparatus as recited in claim 20 wherein the beginning and ending symbols are OFDM symbols associated with the uplink message.
22 . The apparatus as recited in claim 20 wherein the memory and the computer program code are further configured to, with the processor, cause the apparatus to receive a DCI message on another symbol that is between the boundaries of the subframe, wherein the uplink message is transmitted according to uplink message scheduling information indicated by the DCI message.
23 . The apparatus as recited in claim 20 wherein the memory and the computer program code are further configured to, with the processor, cause the apparatus to insert a guard period at a beginning of the subframe.
24 . The apparatus as recited in claim 20 wherein the memory and the computer program code are further configured to, with the processor, cause the apparatus to transmit the uplink message according to selected duration.
25 . The apparatus as recited in claim 20 wherein the apparatus is embodied in a user equipment of a communication system.Join the waitlist — get patent alerts
