Abstract
A shot tracking and feedback system is disclosed that uses a motion sensor incorporated within a housing worn on a wrist of a user to determine and provide performance feedback based on a determined movement before the shot was fired and the determined accuracy of the shot striking a moving target, such as a clay target. The performance feedback and additional information may be provided on a display. A user may utilize the presented performance feedback to improve shooting accuracy.
Claims
exact text as granted — not AI-modifiedWhat is claimed is:
1 . A shot tracking and feedback system comprising:
a display; a motion sensor incorporated within a housing worn on a wrist of a user and configured to determine motion data corresponding to movements of the user while holding a weapon; a memory configured to store motion data received from the motion sensor; a processing system communicatively coupled with the memory, the processing system configured to:
determine a movement of the user before the shot was fired,
determine an accuracy of the shot fired from the weapon successfully striking a moving target,
determine performance feedback based on the determined movement and the determined accuracy of the shot, and
control the display to present the performance feedback.
2 . The system of claim 1 , further comprising a communication element configured to wirelessly receive the sensor data from the motion sensor, wherein the communication element is communicatively coupled with the memory and the processing system.
3 . The system of claim 1 , wherein the motion sensor housing is an external sensor device, and wherein the motion sensor is selected from a group consisting of a gyroscope and an accelerometer.
4 . The system of claim 3 , wherein the external sensor device is a watch.
5 . The system of claim 3 , wherein the motion sensor housing further incorporating a heart rate sensor configured to determine heart rate data for the user, and wherein the processing system is further configured to determine the performance feedback based on the heart rate data for the user.
6 . The system of claim 1 , wherein the motion sensor is an inertial measurement unit (IMU), and wherein the motion sensor is selected from a group consisting of a gyroscope and an accelerometer.
7 . The system of claim 1 , wherein the determined movement comprises an unintentional movement.
8 . The system of claim 1 , wherein the processing element is further configured to determine a position of the weapon held by the user based on the motion data.
9 . The system of claim 8 , wherein the determined position of the weapon is an attitude of the weapon.
10 . The system of claim 8 , wherein processor is further configured to determine the performance feedback based on the determined position of the weapon.
11 . The system of claim 1 , wherein the shot comprises a plurality of pellets, wherein the processing system is further configured to determine a plurality of locations of the plurality of pellets.
12 . A shot tracking and feedback system comprising:
a display; a motion sensor incorporated within an external sensor device housing worn on a wrist of a user and configured to determine motion data corresponding to movements of the user while holding a weapon; a communication element configured to wirelessly receive the sensor data from the motion sensor; a memory communicatively coupled with the communication element, the memory configured to store motion data received from the motion sensor; a processing system communicatively coupled with the memory, the processing system configured to:
determine a movement of the user before the shot was fired,
determine an accuracy of the shot fired from the weapon successfully striking a moving target,
determine performance feedback based on the determined movement and the determined accuracy of the shot, and
control the display to present the performance feedback.
13 . The system of claim 12 , wherein the external sensor device is a watch, and wherein the motion sensor is selected from a group consisting of a gyroscope and an accelerometer.
14 . The system of claim 12 , wherein the determined movement comprises an unintentional movement.
15 . The system of claim 12 , wherein the processing element is further configured to determine a position of the weapon held by the user based on the motion data.
16 . The system of claim 15 , wherein the determined position of the weapon is an attitude of the weapon.
17 . The system of claim 15 , wherein processor is further configured to determine the performance feedback based on the determined position of the weapon.
18 . The system of claim 12 , wherein the external sensor device further incorporates a heart rate sensor configured to determine heart rate data for the user, and wherein the processing system is further configured to determine the performance feedback based on the heart rate data for the user.
19 . A shot tracking and feedback system comprising:
a display; a gyroscope configured to determine motion data corresponding to movements of the user while holding a weapon, the gyroscope incorporated within watch worn on a wrist of a user; a communication element configured to wirelessly receive the sensor data from the motion sensor; a memory communicatively coupled with the communication element, the memory configured to store motion data received from the motion sensor; a processing system communicatively coupled with the memory, the processing system configured to:
determine a movement of the user and a position of the weapon held by the user before the shot was fired based on the motion data, the determined movement including an unintentional movement,
determine an accuracy of the shot fired from the weapon successfully striking a moving target,
