Abstract
A software and hardware system is described that enables effective lifestyle management by providing a dynamic assessment of a user's physical and behavioral metrics via a high feedback ratio interface.
Claims
exact text as granted — not AI-modifiedWhat is claimed is:
1 . A system for collecting and delivering pedometer information, the system comprising:
a plurality of pedometers; one or more servers configured with web services software to receive data generated by the plurality of pedometers over a network; a database accessible to the one or more servers configured to store the data generated by the plurality of pedometers; and an Internet enabled device comprising a display; wherein the system is configured to present a user interface on the display, and wherein the user interface comprises:
selectable filter options allowing the first user to select a subset of the pedometer data stored in the database to compare with at least some of the first user's pedometer data;
a chart or graph of the selected subset of pedometer data;
a first indication associated with the chart or graph showing a position of the first user's pedometer data in the chart or graph;
a second indication showing a percentile ranking of the first user's pedometer data with respect to pedometer data of other users associated with the selected subset of pedometer data;
wherein the selectable filter options, the chart or graph, the first indication, and the second indication are presented simultaneously on the user interface, and wherein the chart or graph and the second indication change with selection of different subsets of the pedometer data stored by the server using the selectable filter options.
2 . The system of claim 1 , wherein the chart or graph comprises a histogram.
3 . The system of claim 1 , wherein the user interface is presented to the first user on the at least one pedometer.
4 . The system of claim 1 wherein the Internet enabled device comprises a smart phone.
5 . The system of claim 4 , wherein the user interface is presented to the first user on the smart phone.
6 . The system of claim 1 , wherein the chart or graph and the second indication change immediately upon first user selection of a different subset of the pedometer data with the filter panel.
7 . The system of claim 1 , wherein the system comprises a touch screen for user interaction with the user interface.
8 . The system of claim 1 , wherein the pedometer data stored in the database is actively defined based on data flows to the database from a plurality of system users.
9 . A system for collecting and delivering pedometer information, the system comprising:
a plurality of pedometers; one or more servers; a database accessible to the one or more servers; and software configured to (1) transfer pedometer data from the plurality of pedometers to the one or more servers over a network, (2) store at least some of the transferred pedometer data in the database, and (3) generate a user interface that allows a first user of at least one of the plurality of pedometers to view a comparison of at least some of their pedometer data with at least some of the pedometer data of users of other pedometers of the plurality of pedometers, wherein the user interface comprises:
selectable filter options allowing the first user to select a subset of the pedometer data stored in the database to compare with the first user's pedometer data;
a chart or graph of the selected subset of pedometer data;
a first indication associated with the chart or graph showing a position of the first user's pedometer data in the chart or graph;
a second indication showing a percentile ranking of the first user's pedometer data with respect to pedometer data of other users associated with the selected subset of pedometer data;
wherein the filter panel, the chart or graph, the first indication, and the second indication are presented to the user simultaneously on the user interface, and wherein the chart or graph and the second indication change with user selection of different subsets of the pedometer data stored by the server using the selectable filter options.
10 . The system of claim 9 , wherein a portion of the software is configured for execution by the plurality of pedometers.
11 . The system of claim 9 , wherein a portion of the software is configured for execution by the one or more servers.
12 . The system of claim 10 , wherein a portion of the software is configured for execution by the one or more servers.
13 . The system of claim 9 , additionally comprising an Internet enabled device.
14 . The system of claim 13 , wherein the Internet enabled device is a smart phone.
15 . The system of claim 13 , wherein a portion of the software is configured for execution on the Internet enabled device.
16 . The system of claim 13 , wherein the portion of the software configured for execution on the Internet enabled device is further configured to direct a browser to request pedometer information from the one or more servers.
17 . The system of claim 1 , wherein the pedometer data stored in the database is actively defined based on data flows to the database from a plurality of system users.
18 . A method of pedometer operation for enhanced user engagement, the method comprising:
generating pedometer data with the pedometer by a first user; sending at least some of the data generated by the pedometer to one or more servers; displaying a user interface on a display, wherein the user interface comprises selectable filter options allowing the first user to select a plurality of different sets of pedometer data generated by one or more other pedometers; receiving a first selection of a filter option; retrieving, over a network, first pedometer data in accordance with the first selected filter option from the one or more servers; displaying, on the user interface, a chart or graph of the retrieved first pedometer data; displaying, on the user interface and associated with the chart or graph, a first indication showing a position of the generated pedometer data of the first user in the chart or graph; displaying, on the user interface, a second indication showing a percentile ranking of the pedometer data of the first user with respect to the retrieved pedometer data; receiving a second selection of a filter option; retrieving, over a network, second pedometer data in accordance with the second selected filter option; replacing, on the user interface, the first pedometer data on the chart or graph with the retrieved second pedometer data; displaying, on the user interface and associated with the chart or graph, the first indication showing a position of the generated pedometer data of the first user in the chart or graph; changing, on the user interface, the second indication to a percentile ranking of the pedometer data of the first user with respect to the retrieved second pedometer data.
19 . The method of claim 18 , comprising displaying the user interface on a smart phone display.
20 . The method of claim 18 , comprising:
receiving a third selection of a filter option; retrieving, over a network, third pedometer data in accordance with the third selected filter option; replacing, on the user interface, the second pedometer data on the chart or graph with the retrieved third pedometer data; displaying, on the user interface and associated with the chart or graph, the first indication showing a position of the generated pedometer data of the first user in the chart or graph; changing, on the user interface, the second indication to a percentile ranking of the pedometer data of the first user with respect to the retrieved third pedometer data.Join the waitlist — get patent alerts
