Abstract

A reduced-pressure abdominal treatment device is presented that has a plurality of liquid-impermeable layers with a foam spacer between two of the liquid-impermeable layers. The plurality of liquid-impermeable layers have a coextensive area A1. The foam spacer has a plan-view area A2. A2 is less than 80% of A1 (i.e., A2<0.8A1). The foam spacer is configured such that, under reduced pressure, a target fluid removal zone experiences reduced-pressure vectors over an angle theta (θ) that is typically 360 degrees for a majority of locations in the target fluid removal zone. Applying 360 degrees of reduced pressure helps avoid blockage. The plurality of liquid-impermeable layers may be bonded for various effects. Other devices, systems, and methods are disclosed.

Claims

exact text as granted — not AI-modified
1 . An abdominal treatment device for distributing reduced pressure to a tissue site, the abdominal treatment device comprising:
a plurality of liquid-impermeable layers, wherein the liquid-impermeable layers are at least partially fenestrated; a micro-channel space between the liquid-impermeable layers; a foam spacer disposed between at least two layers of the liquid-impermeable layers, wherein the foam spacer comprises mirrored c-shaped members having an outer peripheral edge and a target flow zone inboard of the outer peripheral edge; and spacer bonds coupling at least two of the liquid-impermeable layers and disposed along the outer peripheral edge of the c-shaped members; and wherein the micro-channel space in the target flow zone is adapted to experience reduced-pressure vectors over an angle that is at least 270 degrees.

2 . The abdominal treatment device of claim 1 , wherein the mirrored c-shape members are interconnected.

3 . The abdominal treatment device of claim 1 , wherein the spacer bonds comprise a stitch bond.

4 . The abdominal treatment device of claim 1 , wherein the spacer bonds comprise a solid bond.

5 . The abdominal treatment device of claim 1 , wherein each of the liquid-impermeable layers has a thickness in the range of 50 to 120 microns.

6 . The abdominal treatment device of claim 1 , wherein:
the mirrored c-shape members are interconnected; the spacer bonds comprise a solid bond; and each of the liquid-impermeable layers has a thickness in the range of 50 to 120 microns.

7 . An abdominal treatment device for distributing reduced pressure to a tissue site, the abdominal treatment device comprising:
a plurality of liquid-impermeable layers, wherein the liquid-impermeable layers are at least partially fenestrated; a micro-channel space between the liquid-impermeable layers; a foam spacer disposed between at least two layers of the liquid-impermeable layers, wherein the foam spacer comprises a plurality of annular circles having an outer peripheral edge and a target flow zone inboard of the outer peripheral edge; and spacer bonds coupling at least two of the liquid-impermeable layers and disposed along the outer peripheral edge of the foam spacer; and wherein the foam spacer is configured such that the micro-channel space in the target flow zone experiences reduced-pressure vectors over an angle that is at least 270 degrees under reduced pressure.

8 . The abdominal treatment device of claim 7 , wherein the annular circles are interconnected.

9 . The abdominal treatment device of claim 7 , wherein the spacer bonds comprise a stitch bond.

10 . The abdominal treatment device of claim 7 , wherein the spacer bonds comprise a solid bond.

11 . The abdominal treatment device of claim 7 , wherein each of the liquid-impermeable layers has a thickness in the range of 50 to 120 microns.

12 . The abdominal treatment device of claim 7 , wherein:
the annular circles are interconnected; the spacer bonds comprise a stitch bond; and each of the liquid-impermeable layers has a thickness in the range of 50 to 120 microns.

13 . A system for treating an abdominal cavity with reduced pressure, the system comprising:
 an abdominal treatment device comprising:
a plurality of liquid-impermeable layers, wherein the plurality of liquid-impermeable layers are at least partially fenestrated,
 a micro-channel space between the liquid-impermeable layers;
a foam spacer disposed between at least two layers of the plurality of liquid-impermeable layers, the foam spacer and comprising a plurality of annular circles having an outer peripheral edge and a target flow zone inboard of the outer peripheral edge, and
spacer bonds coupling at least two of the liquid-impermeable layers and disposed along the outer peripheral edge of the foam spacer,
wherein the foam spacer is configured so that the micro-channel space experiences reduced-pressure vectors over an angle that is at least 270 degrees under reduced pressure; and
a reduced-pressure source fluidly coupled to the abdominal treatment device.
