Claims

exact text as granted — not AI-modified
I claim:

         1 . A tailgate assembly comprising:
 A first panel with a first end and a second end, wherein the first end is connected to a truck bed by a first set of hinges; a second panel with a first end and a second end, and a first side end and a second side end, wherein the first end of the second panel is connected to the second end of the first panel by a second set of hinges; a first side panel connected to the first side end of the second panel; a second side panel connected to the second side of the second panel; wherein the first and second side panels can be rotated so that the first and second side panels lay flat against the second panel; wherein the second panel can be rotated so that the first and second side panels are concealed between the first panel and the second panel.

         2 . The tailgate assembly of claim 1 wherein:
 when the side panels are concealed between the first panel and the second panel, the side panels to not obstruct material from being placed in or removed from the truck bed.

         3 . A tailgate assembly comprising
 a first panel with a first end and a second end, wherein the first end is connected to a truck bed by a first set of hinges; a second panel with a first end and a second end, and a first side end and a second side end, wherein the first end of the second panel is connected to the second end of the first panel by a second set of hinges; a first side panel connected to the first side end of the second panel; a second side panel connected to the second side of the second panel; wherein the first panel, second panel, first side panel, and second side panel are solid material which fully enclose the extended truck bed.

         4 . A tailgate assembly comprising
 a first panel with a first end and a second end, wherein the first end is connected to a truck bed by a first set of hinges; a second panel with a first end and a second end, and a first side end and a second side end, wherein the first end of the second panel is connected to the second end of the first panel by a second set of hinges; a first side panel connected to the first side end of the second panel by a third set of hinges; a second side panel connected to the second side of the second panel by a fourth set of hinges.

         5 . The tailgate assembly of claim 4 having a first position wherein:
 the first and second side panels are rotated toward the second panel so that the first and second side panels lay flat against the second panel;
 the second panel is rotated toward the first panel and secured to the first panel concealing the side panels between the first panel and second panel;
 the first panel is rotated so that it is perpendicular the truck bed.

         6 . The tailgate assembly of claim 5 having a second position wherein:
 the first panel is rotated away from the truck bed so that the first panel is coplanar with the truck bed;
 the second panel is rotated away from the first panel so that the second panel is perpendicular the first panel;
 the first and second side panels are rotated away from the second panel so that the perpendicular the second panel;
 the first and second side panels are secured to the truck bed.
