End piece for camshaft

Abstract

A method of manufacturing an end piece for a camshaft may include forming a shape of an end piece to be coupled to a camshaft by compacting steel and powder in a net-shape manner and by sintering steel and a powder compact that are preassembled to each other.

         10 . An end piece for a camshaft, including steel bonded to a camshaft, and a powder compact bonded around a rear end portion of the steel. 
     
     
         11 . The end piece of  claim 10 , wherein the powder compact is compacted by a punch on a die to be preassembled to the steel, and the preassembled steel and the powder compact are bonded to each other by sintering. 
     
     
         12 . The end piece of  claim 11 , wherein the powder compact is pressed and preassembled and wherein a powder has a density of 6.6 g/cc. 
     
     
         13 . The end piece of  claim 12 , wherein the powder includes adding graphite and copper (Cu) powder to iron (Fe) or iron powder, and by mixing with a lubricant for lubrication of a mold. 
     
     
         14 . The end piece of  claim 13 , wherein the powder includes further adding phosphorus (P) powder thereto. 
     
     
         15 . The end piece of  claim 13 , wherein a joint portion of the steel with the powder compact is formed with relief or intaglio.
