Protective Clothing And Apparel For Pets And Animals And Method Of Use

Abstract

Protective clothing and apparel for pets and animals, and method of using same, structured as a shirt and/or hat made of an ultraviolet protective rash guard material with at least on portion having cooling crystals integrated therein. In a first embodiment the clothing is directed to a pet shirt constructed having a top portion, bottom portion, and side portions arranged to form a generally tubular member having an opened torso end, two leg members, and a collar member. In a second embodiment the clothing is directed to a pet hat constructed having a top portion, side portions and a front portion having a visor member attached thereto, the side portions having a lower rim. Two ear members and securement means are integrated within the lower rim of the side portions. At least a portion of the shirt/hat comprises ultraviolet properties. Additionally, at least a portion of the shirt/hat comprises a cooling zone formed of a plurality of cooling crystals. Owing to the ultraviolet material and cooling crystals the pet clothing shields pets/dogs from harmful ultraviolet rays while keeping them cool and comfortable and mitigating heat exhaustion.

         21 . A hat for a pet, comprising:
 a. a top portion, side portions and a front portion having a visor member attached thereto, said side portions having a lower rim;   b. two ear members integrated within said lower rim of said side portions;   c. securement means integrated within said side portions;   d. at least a portion of said hat comprising ultraviolet properties; and   e. at least a portion of said hat comprising a cooling zone, said cooling zone further being comprised of a plurality of cooling crystals formed in a cavity located within said hat.   
     
     
         22 . The hat of  claim 21 , wherein said securement means comprises a string or rope with a toggle discretely located under said lower rim of said side portions of said hat. 
     
     
         23 . The hat of  claim 21 , wherein said cooling zone is located within said lower rim of said front portion. 
     
     
         24 . The hat of  claim 21 , wherein said cooling zone is located within said lower rim of said side portions of said hat. 
     
     
         25 . The hat of  claim 21 , wherein said cooling zone is located within said top portion of said hat. 
     
     
         26 . The hat of  claim 21 , wherein said ear members include a securement band appointed to slide under ears of an animal. 
     
     
         27 . The hat of  claim 26 , wherein said securement band includes a cooling zone forming a cooling band. 
     
     
         28 . The hat of  claim 21 , wherein said cooling zone is removable. 
     
     
         29 . The hat of  claim 21 , wherein said hat is composed of a rash guard type material selected from spandex, nylon, polyester, Lycra and polypropylene and combinations thereof. 
     
     
         30 . The hat of  claim 21 , wherein said cooling zone includes an external layer and a bottom layer forming an internal cavity containing said cooling crystals, wherein said bottom layer of said cooling zone is composed of a lightweight absorbent cotton material and is appointed to rest flush against the animal's body, and wherein said external layer of said cooling zone is composed of a rash guard material. 
     
     
         31 . The hat of  claim 21 , wherein said hat is composed of an air-wick material.
