Abstract
A system includes a pipe heater configured to heat spoolable pipe to provide a heated spoolable pipe and a pipe re-rounder configured to re-round the heated spoolable pipe to provide a rounded spoolable pipe. The system may also include a controller configured to control the pipe heater and the pipe re-rounder.
Claims
exact text as granted — not AI-modifiedWhat is claimed is:
1 . A method, comprising:
providing a deployment trailer, wherein the deployment trailer comprises:
a trailer bed; and
a spoolable pipe deployment device coupled to the trailer bed;
heating spoolable pipe using a pipe heater to provide a heated spoolable pipe; and re-rounding the heated spoolable pipe using a pipe re-rounder to provide a rounded spoolable pipe;
wherein the pipe heater is coupled to the trailer bed, and
wherein the pipe re-rounder is coupled to the trailer bed.
2 . The method of claim 1 , comprising heating the spoolable pipe using the pipe heater via at least one of inductive heating, resistive heating, conductive heating, convective heating, or radiative heating.
3 . The method of claim 1 , wherein the pipe heater comprises an induction coil, and wherein heating the spoolable pipe comprises passing the spoolable pipe through an interior of the induction coil.
4 . The method of claim 1 , wherein the pipe heater comprises:
an enclosure configured to enclose at least a portion of the spoolable pipe; a fluid contained within the enclosure; and a heating element disposed within the enclosure; and wherein heating the spoolable pipe comprises: positioning at least a portion of the spoolable pipe within the enclosure; and heating the fluid contained within the enclosure.
5 . The method of claim 1 , comprising:
providing a controller configured to control the pipe heater and the pipe re-rounder, wherein the controller comprises a processor; heating the spoolable pipe using the controller to control the pipe heater; and re-rounding the spoolable pipe using the controller to control the pipe re-rounder.
6 . The method of claim 5 , comprising
providing a temperature sensor; and transmitting a signal indicative of a temperature of the heated spoolable pipe to the controller using the temperature sensor.
7 . The method of claim 5 , comprising
providing a deployment actuator; providing a deployment speed sensor; transmitting a signal indicative of the deployment speed of the rounded spoolable pipe to the controller using the deployment speed sensor; and adjusting the deployment speed of the rounded spoolable pipe based on a desired speed signal transmitted from the controller.
8 . The method of claim 5 , comprising
providing a re-rounder actuator; providing a re-rounding force sensor; adjusting a re-rounding force applied to the heated spoolable pipe based on a desired re-rounding force signal transmitted from the controller using the re-rounder actuator; and transmitting a signal indicative of the re-rounding force to the controller using the re-rounding force sensor.
9 . The method of claim 1 , comprising maintaining a temperature of the heated spoolable pipe via blowing hot air through an interior of the spoolable pipe via a hot air blower.
10 . The method of claim 1 , wherein re-rounding the heated spoolable pipe comprises engaging an outer surface of the heated spoolable pipe via a pair of rollers.
11 . The method of claim 1 , comprising heating a coil or reel of the spoolable pipe using a coil heater or reel heater prior to heating the spoolable pipe using the pipe heater.
12 . The method of claim 1 , comprising conveying the spoolable pipe through the pipe heater and the pipe re-rounder using a deployment actuator.
13 . The method of claim 1 , comprising:
engaging heated spoolable pipe having a first outer diameter using a first pair of rollers; and engaging heated spoolable pipe having a second outer diameter using a second pair of rollers.Join the waitlist — get patent alerts
