Abstract

Motion control data is received from one or more sensors. A first parameter value associated with a music composition is received from a digital audio workstation. A second parameter value associated with the music composition is received from the digital audio workstation. The motion control data is converted to one or more manipulations of one or more virtual objects. The one or more manipulations of the one or more virtual objects are mapped to at least a first command that adjusts the first parameter value and a second command that adjusts the second parameter value. The first command is sent to the digital audio workstation using a first audio input protocol recognized by the digital audio workstation. The second command is sent to the digital audio workstation using a second audio input protocol recognized by the digital audio workstation.

Claims

What is claimed is:

         1 . (canceled)

         2 . A method, comprising:
receiving control data; determining an update to a digital audio workstation parameter value based at least in part on the received control data; and transmitting a command to display the update to the digital audio workstation parameter value on a display device.

3 . The method of claim 2 , wherein the control data is collected by a sensor that detects motion.

4 . The method of claim 2 , wherein the display device is one of the following: a virtual reality display device, an augmented reality display device, or a flat panel display device.

5 . The method of claim 2 , wherein the display device is configured to display a graphical representation of the digital audio workstation parameter value.

6 . The method of claim 5 , wherein changes to the digital audio workstation parameter value map to configuration changes of the graphical representation of the digital audio workstation parameter value.

7 . The method of claim 5 , wherein the graphical representation of the digital audio workstation parameter value is one of the following: a fader, a slider, a button, a ball, a cube, or a pyramid.

8 . The method of claim 5 , wherein the graphical representation of the digital audio workstation parameter value changes display location based at least in part on the update to the digital audio workstation parameter value.

9 . The method of claim 5 , wherein the graphical representation of the digital audio workstation parameter value changes shape based at least in part on the update to the digital audio workstation parameter value.

10 . The method of claim 2 , further comprising transmitting to the display device updated display data based at least in part on the update to the digital audio workstation parameter value.

11 . The method of claim 2 , wherein the received control data was obtained by a gesture tracking sensor.

12 . The method of claim 11 , wherein the gesture tracking sensor is configured to track movement of at least one of the following body parts: a finger, a hand, or an arm.

13 . The method of claim 2 , further comprising transmitting the update to the digital audio workstation parameter value.

14 . The method of claim 13 , wherein transmitting the update to the digital audio workstation parameter value includes transmitting the update to the digital audio workstation parameter value to a digital audio workstation.

15 . The method of claim 13 , wherein transmitting the update to the digital audio workstation parameter value includes eliminating duplicate information corresponding to the digital audio workstation parameter value.

16 . The method of claim 13 , wherein transmitting the update to the digital audio workstation parameter value includes converting the update to the digital audio workstation parameter value to a lower information content format.

17 . The method of claim 13 , wherein transmitting the update to the digital audio workstation parameter value includes selecting a communication protocol based at least in part on a data type of the digital audio workstation parameter value.

18 . The method of claim 13 , wherein transmitting the update to the digital audio workstation parameter value includes utilizing one or more audio input protocols to transmit the update to the digital audio workstation parameter value.

         19 . A method, comprising:
receiving control data, wherein the control data corresponds to movement generated by a human; determining an update to a digital audio workstation parameter value based at least in part on the received control data; and transmitting a command to display the update to the digital audio workstation parameter value on a display device.

20 . The method of claim 19 , wherein the display device is configured to display an augmented reality graphical representation of the digital audio workstation parameter value.

         21 . A system, comprising:
one or more processors configured to:
 receive control data;
determine an update to a digital audio workstation parameter value based at least in part on the received control data; and
transmit a command to display the update to the digital audio workstation parameter value on a display device; and
a memory coupled with at least one of the one or more processors and configured to provide the one or more processors with instructions.
