Abstract

The present invention relates to the use of gingival fibroblast-derived products to reduce hair loss and promote hair growth. Specifically, the invention relates to a product derived from gingival fibroblasts to be used in the treatment or prevention of alopecia, as well as in the promotion of natural hair growth and/or in the control of natural hair loss.

1 . A cosmetic method for the treatment or prevention of alopecia in an individual, comprising administering to the individual an effective quantity of a gingival fibroblast-derived product. 
     
     
         2 . The cosmetic method according to  claim 1 , wherein alopecia is selected from the group consisting of hereditary androgenic alopecia, postmenopausal alopecia, acute alopecia, alopecia areata and congenital alopecia. 
     
     
         3 . The cosmetic method according to  claim 1 , wherein the gingival fibroblast-derived product is selected from the group consisting of gingival fibroblasts, gingival fibroblasts from a culture, a gingival fibroblast extract and a gingival fibroblast conditioned medium. 
     
     
         4 . The cosmetic method according to  claim 1 , wherein the gingival fibroblast-derived product is heterologous, allogeneic or autologous. 
     
     
         5 . A method for the treatment or prevention of alopecia in an individual, comprising administering to the individual an effective quantity of a gingival fibroblast-derived product. 
     
     
         6 . The method according to  claim 5 , wherein alopecia is selected from the group consisting of hereditary androgenic alopecia, postmenopausal alopecia, acute alopecia, alopecia areata and congenital alopecia. 
     
     
         7 . The method according to  claim 5 , wherein the gingival fibroblast-derived product is selected from the group consisting of gingival fibroblasts, gingival fibroblasts from a culture, a gingival fibroblast extract and a gingival fibroblast conditioned medium. 
     
     
         8 . The method according to  claim 5 , wherein the gingival fibroblast-derived product is heterologous, allogeneic or autologous. 
     
     
         9 . The method according to  claim 5 , wherein the gingival fibroblast-derived product is administered in association with a known treatment for alopecia. 
     
     
         10 . The method according to  claim 5 , wherein the gingival fibroblast-derived product is administered in association with a known treatment for alopecia selected from the group consisting of finasteride, minoxidil and a micro-transplantation.
