Abstract

A shrouded rotor constructed through a hybrid additive manufacturing process. The shrouded rotor including a hub at a radial center having an outer surface forming an inner wall of a flow path, a shroud at a radial outer side having an inner surface forming an outer wall of the flow path, and vanes extending within the flow path between the hub and the shroud. The outer surface of the hub, the inner surface of the shroud, and all surfaces of the vanes have a surface roughness average of less than 32Ra.

Claims

exact text as granted — not AI-modified
1 . A shrouded rotor comprising:
a hub at a radial center having an outer surface forming an inner wall of a flow path; a shroud at a radial outer side having an inner surface forming an outer wall of the flow path; and vanes extending within the flow path between the hub and the shroud, wherein the outer surface of the hub, the inner surface of the shroud, and all surfaces of the vanes have a surface roughness average of less than 32R a .

2 . The shrouded rotor of claim 1 , wherein a diameter of the hub at a first axial end is less than a diameter of the hub at a second axial end.

3 . The shrouded rotor of claim 1 , wherein the hub includes a bore at the radial center configured to allow a shaft to extend through.

4 . The shrouded rotor of claim 1 further comprising:
a labyrinth seal on an outer surface of the shroud.

5 . The shrouded rotor of claim 1 further comprising:
an internal structure of the hub.

6 . The shrouded rotor of claim 5 , wherein the internal structure of the hub includes radially extending ribs.

7 . The shrouded rotor of claim 1 , wherein the vanes are a thin wall supported at a radially inner end by the hub and at a radially outer end by the shroud.

8 . The shrouded rotor of claim 1 , wherein the hub is a hollow frustoconical shape.
