Abstract

The present disclosure relates to a communication technique that combines a 5G communication system for supporting a data rate that is higher than that of a beyond 4G system with IoT technology, and a system thereof. The present disclosure may be applied to intelligent services on the basis of 5G communication technology and IoT related technology, such as smart home, smart building, smart city, smart car or connected car, health care, digital education, retail, security and safety related services. Disclosed is a method for causing a cellular network itself to receive provisioning of a SIM profile to make it possible to use a normal cellular network service.

         2 . The method of claim 1 , wherein:
the first message further includes address information used to discover a provisioning server; and the provisioning server is identified based on the address information preconfigured in the terminal.

         3 . The method of claim 1 , wherein:
the information on the authentication includes at least one of an embedded universal integrated circuit card (eUICC) identity or an international mobile station equipment identity (IMEI); and a secure connection is established between the terminal and a provisioning server based on the information on the authentication.

4 . The method of claim 1 , further comprising:
identifying whether the terminal has no subscription for an access before transmitting the first message; and receiving a profile associated with a network from a provisioning server.

5 . The method of claim 1 , further comprising:
performing a de-registration procedure in case that a profile is received; and accessing to a network based on the profile.

6 . A method performed by a first network entity in a wireless communication system, the method comprising:
receiving, from a terminal, a first message including information on an authentication and information indicating that the terminal has no subscription for an access; performing an authentication that whether the terminal is allowed to access for a profile provisioning based on the information on the authentication; transmitting, to the terminal, a second message based on a result of the authentication using the information on the authentication; receiving, from the terminal, a third message associated with a connection request for the profile provisioning; and transmitting, to the terminal, a fourth message associated with a connection establishment that is limited to the profile provisioning.

7 . The method of claim 6 , wherein the first message further includes address information used to discover a provisioning server.

         8 . The method of claim 6 , wherein:
the information on the authentication includes at least one of an embedded universal integrated circuit card (eUICC) identity or an international mobile station equipment identity (IMEI); and a secure connection is established between the terminal and a provisioning server based on the information on the authentication.

9 . The method of claim 7 , wherein the provisioning server is identified based on the address information preconfigured in the terminal.

10 . The method of claim 6 , further comprising:
performing a de-registration procedure in case that a profile is received by the terminal, wherein an access to a network is performed by the terminal based on the profile.

11 . A terminal in a wireless communication system, the terminal comprising:
a transceiver; and a controller configured to:
transmit, to a first network entity via the transceiver, a first message including information on an authentication and information indicating that the terminal has no subscription for an access,
perform an extensible authentication protocol (EAP) procedure with a second network entity based on the information on the authentication,
receive, from the first network entity via the transceiver, a second message based on a result of the EAP procedure using the information on the authentication,
transmit, to the first network entity, a third message associated with a connection request for a profile provisioning, and
receive, from the first network entity via the transceiver, a fourth message associated with a connection establishment that is limited to the profile provisioning.

         12 . The terminal of claim 11 , wherein:
the first message further includes address information used to discover a provisioning server; and the provisioning server is identified based on the address information preconfigured in the terminal.

         13 . The terminal of claim 11 , wherein:
the information on the authentication includes at least one of an embedded universal integrated circuit card (eUICC) identity or an international mobile station equipment identity (IMEI); and a secure connection is established between the terminal and a provisioning server based on the information on the authentication.

14 . The terminal of claim 11 , wherein the controller is further configured to:
identify whether the terminal has no subscription for an access before transmitting the first message; and receive a profile associated with a network from a provisioning server.

15 . The terminal of claim 11 , wherein the controller is further configured to:
perform a de-registration procedure in case that the profile is received; and access to a network based on the profile.

16 . A first network entity in a wireless communication system, the first network entity comprising:
a transceiver; and a controller configured to:
