Multi-purpose Percussion Accessory Stand

Abstract

A multi-purpose percussion accessory stand having a primary board with horizontal support surface or tray table, a guard board attachable at a rear edge of the horizontal support surface of the primary board, and multiple mounting hardware for attaching the primary board to a stand posts, which may be used in conjunction with a commercially available tripod. The percussion accessory stand may be sold as a kit that includes multiple accessories, such as customized hooks, brackets, and hardware, that can be removably attached to primary board for holding multiple implements and accessory musical instruments. The accessory stand is highly configurable, light-weight, and portable. The versatile design has a unique combination of features that are particularly useful for the genres of musical theater and chamber music.

What is claimed is: 
     
         1 . A multi-purpose percussion accessory stand assembly ( 1 ) for temporarily holding a plurality of implements and/or percussion instruments comprising:
 a primary board ( 10 ) having a horizontal support surface;   a guard board ( 20 ) attachable to an edge of said primary board;   a plurality of mounting hardware ( 30 ) for attaching said primary board ( 10 ) to a stand post ( 5 ); and   a plurality of accessories ( 40 ) configured to be removably attached to said primary board ( 10 ) for hanging or otherwise holding implements and/or percussion instruments.   
     
     
         2 . The multi-purpose percussion accessory stand assembly ( 1 ) as claimed in  claim 1 , wherein said primary board ( 10 ) is an upholstered lightweight board made of a material selected from the group consisting of plywood, pressboard and fiber board. 
     
     
         3 . The multi-purpose percussion accessory stand assembly ( 1 ) as claimed in  claim 1 , wherein said primary board ( 10 ) further comprises:
 a threaded flange ( 102 ) attached to the center of the underside of said primary board ( 10 ) and configured to attach to the stand post ( 5 ); and   at least three internally-threaded inserts ( 103 ) installed underneath the front edge of said primary board ( 10 ) and spaced apart for receiving said accessories ( 40 ) for holding implements and/or percussion instruments.   
     
     
         4 . The multi-purpose percussion accessory stand assembly ( 1 ) as claimed in  claim 1 , wherein said primary board ( 10 ) further comprises:
 at least seven evenly spaced internally-threaded inserts ( 101 ) on each of the right and left side edges for mounting said plurality of accessories ( 40 ) and a removable carrying handle ( 406 );   at least four centered internally-threaded inserts ( 104 ) on the rear edge of the primary board ( 10 ) for securing said guard board ( 20 ) in a vertical position;   at least four centered internally-threaded inserts ( 105 ) on the rear underside to secure said guard board ( 20 ) in horizontal unused position; and   at least four vertically-oriented internally-threaded inserts ( 106 ) one of which is placed on each of the four top corners of said primary board ( 10 ).   
     
     
         5 . The multi-purpose percussion accessory stand assembly ( 1 ) as claimed in  claim 1 , wherein said primary board ( 10 ) further includes glow tape markings to facilitate use in low light conditions. 
     
     
         6 . The multi-purpose percussion accessory stand assembly ( 1 ) as claimed in  claim 1 , wherein said attachable guard board ( 20 ) comprises:
 at least two double-hinged connections ( 201 ) mounted on the rear edge of said primary board ( 10 ), wherein said double-hinged connections ( 201 ) permit said guard board ( 20 ) to swing 270 degrees;   at least three evenly spaced semi-circular cut-outs ( 202 ) on said guard board ( 20 ) resulting in a scalloped upper edge of said guard board ( 20 ); and   at least four centered internally-threaded inserts on the rear underside of the primary board ( 10 ) that can be used to secure said guard board in a horizontal unused position.   
     
     
         7 . The multi-purpose percussion accessory stand assembly ( 1 ) as claimed in  claim 1 , wherein said guard board ( 20 ) further includes glow tape marking the top corners of said guard board ( 20 ) for ease of navigating in low light conditions. 
     
     
         8 . The multi-purpose percussion accessory stand assembly ( 1 ) as claimed in  claim 1 , wherein said plurality of mounting hardware ( 30 ) comprises:
 a primary mount ( 301 ) of said plurality of mounting hardware ( 30 );   a rattle-free keyboard end frame suspension ( 302 ) for mounting said primary board ( 10 ) to the edge of musical instrument; and   at least four Z-shaped brackets ( 303 ), wherein said Z-shaped brackets ( 303 ) can be mounted to the underside of said primary board ( 10 ) on each of the four corners thereof for mounting said primary board ( 10 ) upon a musical instrument board.   
     
     
         9 . The multi-purpose percussion accessory stand assembly ( 1 ) as claimed in  claim 1 , wherein said primary mount ( 301 ) of said plurality of mounting hardware ( 30 ) comprises:
 a threaded mounting post ( 3011 ) for mounting said primary board ( 10 ) to stands with similar post size;   a multi-stop threaded mounting post ( 3012 ) for mounting said primary board ( 10 ) to stands with different insert size;   an aluminum boom rail ( 3013 ) for supporting said primary board ( 10 ) to a vertical surface; and   at least two pipe clamps ( 3014 ) that can be fitted on said aluminum boom rail ( 3013 ) for connecting said aluminum boom rail ( 3013 ) to said stand post ( 5 ).   
     
     
         10 . The multi-purpose percussion accessory stand assembly ( 1 ) as claimed in  claim 1 , wherein said plurality of accessories ( 40 ) comprise:
 a plurality of switch hooks ( 401 ) which are partially threaded aluminum dowels that have a slight upward bend at the end distal to the threaded portion;   a plurality of L-shaped side guard brackets ( 402 ) that can be attached to the underside of said primary board ( 10 ) such that the long leg of said brackets ( 402 ) extends perpendicular to said primary board ( 10 ) top so that said plurality of implements do not fall off the edge;   a plurality of semi-circular props ( 403 ) removably attached to said inserts ( 106 ) on top of said primary board ( 10 );   at least four Z-shaped brackets ( 303 ) that can be mounted to the underside or topside of said primary board ( 10 ) in the proximity of each of the four corners;   an insulated hook with nylon nut ( 405 );   a carrying handle ( 406 ) removably attached to said inserts ( 1   1 ) on the side of said primary board ( 10 ) for easy portability;   a water-resistant slip-on travel bag;   a wrench for tightening bolts and nuts to assemble said percussion accessory stand assembly ( 1 ); and   an accessory pouch ( 407 ) for storing said plurality of accessories ( 40 ).   
     
     
         11 . The multi-purpose percussion accessory stand assembly ( 1 ) as claimed in  claim 1 , wherein said stand assembly ( 1 ) is portable and can be configured to be compactly self-contained.
