Abstract
Described herein are methods for using compounds that activate pyruvate kinase.
Claims
exact text as granted — not AI-modified1 - 30 . (canceled)
. A method of treating sickle cell anemia in a subject in need thereof by administering to the subject an effective amount of a pyruvate kinase activator.
. The method of claim 31 , wherein the pyruvate kinase activator is a small molecule.
. The method of claim 31 , wherein the pyruvate kinase activator reduces intramolecular polymerization of hemoglobin.
. The method of claim 31 , wherein the pyruvate kinase activator activates wild type pyruvate kinase R.
. The method of claim 31 , wherein the pyruvate kinase activator activates a mutant pyruvate kinase R.
. The method of claim 35 , wherein the mutant pyruvate kinase R is selected from the group consisted of G332S, G364D, T384M, G37E, R479H, R479K, R486W, R532W, R510Q, and R490W.
. The method of claim 31 , wherein the pyruvate kinase activator is orally administered to the subject.
. The method of claim 31 , wherein the pyruvate kinase activator is orally administered to the subject with a pharmaceutically acceptable carrier.
. A method of reducing the level of 2,3-DPG in a subject in need thereof by administering to the subject an effective amount of a pyruvate kinase activator.
. The method of claim 39 wherein the pyruvate kinase activator is a small molecule.
. The method of claim 40 , wherein the subject has sickle cell anemia.
. The method of claim 40 , wherein the subject has hemolytic anemia.
. The method of claim 40 , wherein the subject has pyruvate kinase deficiency.
. The method of claim 40 , wherein the subject has thalassemia.
. The method of claim 40 , wherein the pyruvate kinase activator activates wild type pyruvate kinase R.
. The method of claim 40 , wherein the pyruvate kinase activator activates a mutant pyruvate kinase R.
. The method of claim 46 , wherein the mutant pyruvate kinase R is selected from the group consisting of G332S, G364D, T384M, G37E, R479H, R479K, R486W, R532W, R510Q, and R490W.
. The method of claim 40 , wherein the pyruvate kinase activator is orally administered to the subject.
. The method of claim 40 , wherein the pyruvate kinase activator is orally administered to the subject with a pharmaceutically acceptable carrier.
. A method of treating sickle cell anemia in a subject in need thereof by orally administering to the subject an effective amount of a small molecule pyruvate kinase activator, wherein the pyruvate kinase activator activates wild type or mutant pyruvate kinase R.Join the waitlist — get patent alerts
