Processing voice commands based on device topology
Abstract
Example aspects of the present disclosure are directed to processing voice commands or utterances. For instance, data indicative of a voice utterance can be received. A device topology representation can be accessed. The device topology representation can define a plurality of smart devices associated with one or more structures. The device topology representation can further define a location of each of the plurality of devices within the associated structures. A transcription of the voice utterance can be determined based at least in part on the device topology representation. One or more selected devices and one or more actions to be performed by the one or more selected devices can be determined based at least in part on the determined transcription and the device topology representation.
Claims
exact text as granted — not AI-modifiedWhat is claimed is:
1 . A computer-implemented method of processing voice utterances, the method comprising:
receiving, by one or more computing devices, data indicative of a voice utterance; accessing, by the one or more computing devices, a device topology representation, the device topology representation defining a plurality of devices associated with one or more structures, and further defining a respective location for each of the plurality of devices within the associated structures; identifying, by the one or more computing devices, a first control device, of the one or more devices, to which the voice utterance was provided by a user; determining, by the one or more computing devices, one or more selected smart devices from the plurality of devices, wherein determining the one or more selected smart devices is based at least in part on the data indicative of the voice utterance and is based at least in part on the one or more selected smart devices having a same location, in the device topology representation, as the first control device; generating, by the one or more computing device, one or more control commands for the one or more selected smart devices based at least in part on the data indicative of the voice utterance; and providing, by the one or more computing devices, the one or more control commands to the selected smart devices.
2 . The computer-implemented method of claim 1 , wherein the device topology representation defines a plurality of rooms and wherein the respective location for each of the plurality of devices is a respective one of the plurality of rooms.
3 . The computer-implemented method of claim 1 , wherein the one or more computing devices comprise the first control device.
4 . The computer-implemented method of claim 1 , wherein the one or more computing devices consist of the first control device.
5 . The computer-implemented method of claim 1 , wherein determining the one or more selected smart devices comprises:
identifying, by the one or more computing devices, a subset of the plurality of devices for which the device topology representation specifies the same room as the first control device to which the voice utterance was provided; and determining, by the one or more computing devices, the one or more selected smart devices from the subset of the plurality of devices based at least in part on the data indicative of the voice utterance.
6 . The computer-implemented method of claim 1 , wherein generating the one or more control commands for the one or more selected smart devices based at least in part on the data indicative of the voice utterance comprises:
determining, based at least in part on a transcription of the voice utterance, one or more actions to be performed by the one or more selected smart devices; and generating the one or more control commands based at least in part on the one or more selected smart devices and the one or more actions.
7 . The computer-implemented method of claim 1 , wherein the one or more selected smart devices are one or more lighting devices.
8 . A computing system, comprising:
one or more processors; and one or more memory devices, the one or more memory devices storing computer-readable-instructions that when executed by the one or more processors cause the one or more processors to perform operations, the operations comprising:
receiving data indicative of a voice utterance;
accessing a device topology representation, the device topology representation defining a plurality of devices associated with one or more structures, and further defining a respective location for each of the plurality of devices within the associated structures;
identifying a first control device, of the one or more devices, to which the voice utterance was provided by a user;
determining one or more selected smart devices from the plurality of devices, wherein determining the one or more selected smart devices is based at least in part on the data indicative of the voice utterance and is based at least in part on the one or more selected smart devices having a same location, in the device topology representation, as the first control device;
generating one or more control commands for the one or more selected smart devices based at least in part on the data indicative of the voice utterance; and
providing the one or more control commands to the selected smart devices.
9 . The computing system of claim 8 , wherein the device topology representation defines a plurality of rooms and wherein the respective location for each of the plurality of devices is a respective one of the plurality of rooms.
10 . The computing system of claim 8 , wherein the computing system comprises the first control device.
11 . The computing system of any of claim 8 , wherein the computing system consists of the first control device.
12 . The computing system of any of claim 8 , wherein determining the one or more selected devices comprises:
identifying a subset of the plurality of devices for which the device topology representation specifies the same room as the first control device to which the voice utterance was provided; and determining the one or more selected smart devices from the subset of the plurality of devices based at least in part on the data indicative of the voice utterance.
13 . The computing system of claim 8 , wherein generating the one or more control commands for the one or more selected smart devices based at least in part on the data indicative of the voice utterance comprises:
determining, based at least in part on a transcription of the voice utterance, one or more actions to be performed by the one or more selected smart devices; and generating the one or more control commands based at least in part on the one or more selected smart devices and the one or more actions.
14 . The computing system of claim 8 , wherein the one or more selected smart devices are one or more lighting devices.
15 . One or more tangible, non-transitory computer-readable media storing computer-readable instructions that when executed by one or more processors cause the one or more processors to perform operations, the operations comprising:
receiving data indicative of a voice utterance; accessing a device topology representation, the device topology representation defining a plurality of devices associated with one or more structures, and further defining a respective location for each of the plurality of devices within the associated structures; identifying a first control device, of the one or more devices, to which the voice utterance was provided by a user; determining one or more selected smart devices from the plurality of devices, wherein determining the one or more selected smart devices is based at least in part on the data indicative of the voice utterance and is based at least in part on the one or more selected smart devices having a same location, in the device topology representation, as the first control device; generating one or more control commands for the one or more selected smart devices based at least in part on the data indicative of the voice utterance; and providing the one or more control commands to the selected smart devices.Join the waitlist — get patent alerts
