Abstract
Systems and modular devices for roof or ground-level stormwater management are disclosed. A modular stormwater management device includes a water retention mat structured to absorb stormwater, a rigid frame structured to support the water retention mat, and a perforated surface structured to permit drainage of the stormwater from the water retention mat through the perforated surface. A modular stormwater management system includes a plurality of modular stormwater management devices, each of the modular stormwater management devices including a water retention mat structured to absorb stormwater, a rigid frame structured to support the water retention mat, and a perforated surface structured to permit drainage of the stormwater from the water retention mat through the perforated surface.

1 . A stormwater management device comprising:
a water retention mat structured to absorb stormwater; and a breather fabric that supports the water retention mat.
2 . The stormwater management device according to claim 1 , wherein the breather fabric is laminated to the water retention mat.
3 . The stormwater management device according to claim 1 , wherein the water retention mat and the breather fabric are provided as a flexible roll that is rolled directly onto an application surface.
4 . The stormwater management device according to claim 3 , wherein the flexible roll is 2 feet wide.
5 . The stormwater management device according to claim 3 , wherein the flexible roll is 4 feet wide.
6 . The stormwater management device according to claim 3 , wherein the flexible roll is 8 feet wide.
7 . The stormwater management device according to claim 1 , wherein the stormwater management device mitigates heat gain.
8 . The stormwater management device according to claim 1 , wherein the water retention mat is resistant to UV degradation.
9 . The stormwater management device according to claim 1 , wherein the water retention mat is formed from needle-punched polypropylene or polyester.
10 . The stormwater management device according to claim 1 , wherein the water retention mat is formed from an engineered sponge.
11 . The stormwater management device according to claim 10 , wherein the engineered sponge comprises polyvinyl alcohol (PVA).
12 . The stormwater management device according to claim 10 , wherein the engineered sponge comprises a cellulose sponge.
13 . The stormwater management device according to claim 1 , wherein the breather fabric is structured to permit ventilation underneath the water retention mat.
14 . The stormwater management device according to claim 1 , wherein the breather fabric comprises a synthetic three-dimensional matrix of fibers.
