Abstract
The present invention relates to the use of zinc and copper gluconate in the treatment of methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus and dietary supplements for mammals comprising zinc and copper gluconate and their use in treatment of methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus.
Claims
exact text as granted — not AI-modified1 . An animal feed comprising:
zinc gluconate; and copper gluconate; wherein said zinc gluconate is present in the range of approximately 50 to 80 mg zinc/kg feed, and said copper gluconate is present in the range of approximately 5 to 25 mg copper/kg feed whereby said animal feed is effective as a treatment for methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus.
2 . The animal feed of claim 1 , wherein said animal feed is effective as a treatment for methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus in mammals.
3 . The animal feed of claim 2 , wherein said mammal belongs to the genus Sus of the Suidae family.
4 . The animal feed of claim 1 , wherein said zinc gluconate is present in the amount of 65 mg zinc/kg feed.
5 . The animal feed of claim 1 , wherein said copper gluconate is present in the amount of 15 mg copper/kg feed.
6 . The animal feed of claim 1 , wherein said zinc gluconate is present in the amount of 65 mg zinc/kg feed, and wherein said copper gluconate is present in the amount of 15 mg copper/kg feed.
7 . The animal feed of claim 1 , wherein said zinc gluconate and said copper gluconate are administered to a mammal in need thereof daily for at least 4 weeks.
8 . The animal feed of claim 1 , wherein said zinc gluconate and said copper gluconate are administered to a mammal in need thereof daily for 8 weeks.
9 . The animal feed of claim 1 , further comprising manganese gluconate.
10 . The animal feed of claim 1 , further comprising a water soluble carrier substance.
11 . The animal feed of claim 1 , wherein said water soluble carrier substance is either dextrose or sucrose.
12 . The animal feed of claim 9 , further comprising a water soluble carrier substance.
13 . The animal feed of claim 1 , wherein said zinc gluconate and said copper gluconate in said animal feed are in the form of a powder.
14 . The animal feed of claim 13 , wherein said powder contains zinc weighing between 1 mg and 100 mg zinc per gram powder.
15 . The animal feed of claim 13 , wherein said powder contains copper weighing between 0.1 mg and 1 mg copper per gram powder.
16 . The animal feed of claim 13 , wherein said powder further comprises manganese.
17 . The animal feed of claim 16 , wherein said powder includes zinc to a weight between 1 mg and 100 mg zinc, copper to a weight between 0.1 mg and 1 mg copper, manganese to a weight between 0.1 mg and 2 mg manganese per gram powder.
18 . The animal feed of claim 16 , wherein said powder includes 10 mg zinc, 0.5 mg copper, and 0.8 mg manganese per gram powder.
19 . The animal feed of claim 16 , wherein said powder includes 75 mg zinc, 0.5 mg copper, and 0.8 mg manganese per gram powder.
20 . The animal feed of claim 13 , wherein said powder further comprises a water soluble carrier substance, wherein said water soluble carrier substance is either dextrose or sucrose.Join the waitlist — get patent alerts
