Abstract

Disclosed are various embodiments for customizing an item search and browsing experience based on a delivery speed preference. A request is received from a client device for a detail page regarding a particular item offered for order. A first delivery speed option associated with the client device is identified. It is determined that the particular item cannot be delivered to a particular address associated with the client device via the first delivery speed option. A user interface is generated that indicates a second delivery speed option via which the particular item is available for delivery to the particular address. Data encoding the user interface is sent to the client device for rendering on a display.

Claims

exact text as granted — not AI-modified
Therefore, the following is claimed:

         1 . A method, comprising:
 receiving, by at least one computing device, a request from a client device for a detail page regarding a particular item offered for order; identifying, by the at least one computing device, a first delivery speed option associated with the client device; receiving, by the at least one computing device, a location reported by the client device; determining, by the at least one computing device, a particular address based at least in part on the location; determining, by the at least one computing device, that the particular item cannot be delivered to the particular address via the first delivery speed option; generating, by the at least one computing device, a user interface that indicates a second delivery speed option via which the particular item is available for delivery to the particular address; and sending, by the at least one computing device, data encoding the user interface to the client device for rendering on a display.

         2 . The method of claim 1 , further comprising:
 determining, by the at least one computing device, at least one alternative item that is similar to the particular item and available for delivery to the particular address via the first delivery speed option; and wherein the user interface is further configured to present an offer for the at least one alternative item with delivery via the first delivery speed option.

         3 . The method of claim 2 , wherein the at least one alternative item is determined based at least in part on a parent node of a node associated with the particular item in an item classification tree.

         4 . The method of claim 1 , further comprising:
 determining, by the at least one computing device, at least one alternative address to which the particular item is available for delivery via the first delivery speed option; and wherein the user interface is further configured to include a component for selecting the at least one alternative address.

         5 . The method of claim 4 , further comprising:
 determining, by the at least one computing device, a current direction of travel associated with the client device based at least in part on a plurality of locations reported by a global positioning system (GPS) device of the client device; and wherein the at least one alternative address is determined based at least in part on the current direction of travel.

         6 . The method of claim 1 , further comprising:
 dynamically generating, by the at least one computing device, a listing of a plurality of available delivery speed options based at least in part on the particular address and a current time of day; and obtaining, by the at least one computing device, the first delivery speed option from the client device as a user selection from the listing of the plurality of available delivery speed options.

         7 . The method of claim 1 , wherein the location is reported by a location system of the client device, the location system comprising at least one of: a global positioning system (GPS) device, a cellular radio triangulation system, or a WiFi access point reporting system.

         8 . The method of claim 7 , wherein the particular address is determined from a plurality of addresses associated with a user account based at least in part on the location.

         9 . The method of claim 1 , further comprising dynamically generating, by the at least one computing device, the second delivery speed option based at least in part on a subscription status of a user account associated with the client device.

         10 . The method of claim 1 , further comprising dynamically generating, by the at least one computing device, the second delivery speed option based at least in part on a comparison of a current time with a required order submission time associated with the second delivery speed option.

         11 . The method of claim 1 , further comprising persistently associating, by the at least one computing device, the first delivery speed option with a current browsing session of the client device.

         12 . A system, comprising:
 at least one computing device; and instructions executable in the at least one computing device, wherein the instructions cause the at least one computing device to at least:
 receive a request from a client device for a detail page regarding a particular item offered for order;
 identify a first delivery speed option associated with the client device;
 receive a location reported by the client device;
 determine a particular address based at least in part on the location;
 determine that the particular item cannot be delivered to the particular address via the first delivery speed option;
 generate a user interface that indicates a second delivery speed option via which the particular item is available for delivery to the particular address; and
 send data encoding the user interface to the client device for rendering on a display.

         13 . The system of claim 12 , wherein the instructions further cause the at least one computing device to at least determine at least one alternative item that is similar to the particular item and available for delivery to the particular address via the first delivery speed option, wherein the user interface is further configured to present an offer for the at least one alternative item with delivery via the first delivery speed option.

         14 . The system of claim 12 , wherein the instructions further cause the at least one computing device to at least determine at least one alternative address to which the particular item is available for delivery via the first delivery speed option, wherein the user interface is further configured to include a component for selecting the at least one alternative address.

         15 . The system of claim 12 , wherein the instructions further cause the at least one computing device to at least:
 dynamically generate a listing of a plurality of available delivery speed options based at least in part on the particular address and a current time of day; and obtain the first delivery speed option from the client device as a user selection from the listing of the plurality of available delivery speed options.

         16 . The system of claim 12 , wherein the location is reported by a location system of the client device, the location system comprising at least one of: a global positioning system (GPS) device, a cellular radio triangulation system, or a WiFi access point reporting system.

         17 . The system of claim 16 , wherein the particular address is determined from a plurality of addresses associated with a user account based at least in part on the location.

         18 . A non-transitory computer-readable medium embodying a program executable in at least one computing device, wherein the program includes instructions that cause the at least one computing device to at least:
 receive a request from a client device for a detail page regarding a particular item offered for order; identify a first delivery speed option associated with the client device; receive a location reported by the client device; determine a particular address based at least in part on the location; determine that the particular item cannot be delivered to the particular address via the first delivery speed option; generate a user interface that indicates a second delivery speed option via which the particular item is available for delivery to the particular address; and send data encoding the user interface to the client device for rendering on a display.

         19 . The non-transitory computer-readable medium of claim 18 , wherein the location is reported by a location system of the client device, the location system comprising at least one of: a global positioning system (GPS) device, a cellular radio triangulation system, or a WiFi access point reporting system.

         20 . The non-transitory computer-readable medium of claim 19 , wherein the particular address is determined from a plurality of addresses associated with a user account based at least in part on the location.
