Claims

Abstract

A method and an apparatus are provided in which a message including location information is received from an external electronic device. A first location is identified corresponding to the location information included in the message. A second location of the electronic apparatus is obtained. A route is identified from the second location of the electronic apparatus to the first location corresponding to the location information. The route is displayed on a display of the electronic apparatus.

What is claimed is: 
     
         1 . An electronic apparatus comprising:
 a display;   a communication interface; and   a processor configured to:
 receive, through the communication interface, a message including location information from an external electronic device; 
 identify a first location corresponding to the location information included in the message; 
 obtain a second location of the electronic apparatus; 
 identify a route from the second location of the electronic apparatus to the first location corresponding to the location information; and 
 control the display to display the route. 
   
     
     
         2 . The electronic apparatus of  claim 1 , wherein the processor is further configured to control the display to display the route in an execution screen of a navigation program. 
     
     
         3 . The electronic apparatus of  claim 1 , further comprising a memory,
 wherein the processor is further configured to store, in the memory, the first location corresponding to the location information.   
     
     
         4 . The electronic apparatus of  claim 1 , wherein the processor is further configured to:
 control the display to display one or more pieces of location information corresponding to one or more messages, respectively, the one or more messages including the message received from the external electronic device; and   detect an input selecting one of the one or more pieces of location information,   wherein, in identifying the route, the processor is further configured to identify the route from the second location of the electronic apparatus to a location corresponding to the selected one of the one or more pieces of location information.   
     
     
         5 . The electronic apparatus of  claim 1 , wherein the first location corresponding to the location information is specified by a user input to the external electronic device. 
     
     
         6 . The electronic apparatus of  claim 1 , wherein the processor is further configured to:
 identify whether the message received from the external electronic device includes the location information; and   in response to identifying that the message includes the location information, identify the location information based on the message.   
     
     
         7 . The electronic apparatus of  claim 1 , wherein, in obtaining the second location of the electronic apparatus, the processor is further configured to:
 identify the second location of the electronic apparatus based on a Global Positioning System (GPS) signal.   
     
     
         8 . The electronic apparatus of  claim 1 , wherein the message comprises a data field for indicating the location information. 
     
     
         9 . The electronic apparatus of  claim 1 , wherein the processor is further configured to:
 control the communication interface to transmit, to an external server, a request for information on the route from the second location of the electronic apparatus to the first location corresponding to the location information, and   control the communication interface to receive, from the external server, the information on the route from the second location of the electronic apparatus to the first location corresponding to the location information.   
     
     
         10 . The electronic apparatus of  claim 1 , wherein the message is a multimedia message. 
     
     
         11 . A method in an electronic apparatus, the method comprising:
 receiving a message including location information from an external electronic device;   identifying a first location corresponding to the location information included in the message;   obtaining a second location of the electronic apparatus;   identifying a route from the second location of the electronic apparatus to the first location corresponding to the location information; and   displaying the route on a display of the electronic apparatus.   
     
     
         12 . The method of  claim 11 , wherein displaying the route comprises displaying the route in an execution screen of a navigation program. 
     
     
         13 . The method of  claim 11 , further comprising storing the first location corresponding to the location information. 
     
     
         14 . The method of  claim 11 , further comprising:
 displaying, on the display of the electronic apparatus, one or more pieces of location information corresponding to one or more messages, respectively, the one or more messages including the message received from the external electronic device; and   detecting an input selecting one of the one or more pieces of location information,   wherein identifying the route comprises identifying the route from the second location of the electronic apparatus to a location corresponding to the selected one of the one or more pieces of location information.   
     
     
         15 . The method of  claim 11 , wherein the first location corresponding to the location information is specified by a user input to the external electronic device. 
     
     
         16 . The method of  claim 11 , further comprising:
 identifying whether the message received from the external electronic device includes the location information; and   identifying the location information based on the message in response to identifying that the message includes the location information.   
     
     
         17 . The method of  claim 11 , wherein obtaining the second location of the electronic apparatus comprises identifying the second location of the electronic apparatus based on a Global Positioning System (GPS) signal. 
     
     
         18 . The method of  claim 11 , wherein the message comprises a data field for indicating the location information. 
     
     
         19 . The method of  claim 11 , wherein the identifying of the route comprises:
 transmitting, to an external server, a request for information on the route from the second location of the electronic apparatus to the first location corresponding to the location information; and   receiving, form the external server, the information on the route from the second location of the electronic apparatus to the first location corresponding to the location information.   
     
     
         20 . The method of  claim 11 , wherein the message is a multimedia message.
