Claims
Abstract
An optics mounting device that can be used on a wide variety of firearms including revolvers and shotguns. The invention provides a mount that can be snapped on and snapped off firearms and provides an easy way to provide laser pointing aiming devices on existing weapons without resort to altering the weapons by use of drilling holes or other gunsmithing.

A removeable sighting device platform comprising: a columnar clamp portion with a gap is said columnar clamp said gap having a first edge and a second edge where said first edge and second edge are in opposition and said first edge forms a griping surface and said second edge for a a gripping surface allow removable fixation to a portion of a firearm receiver by holding said receiver in tension only between said first gripping edge and said second gripping edge a release tab portion extending from said columnar clamp portion to allow levering action of said columnar clamp portion; an optics mounting surface displaced on said columnar clamp portion
2 . The unitary body sighting device of claim 1 further comprising: a laser beam producing device attached to said clamp portion and wherein said columnar clamp portion is adaptable to affix to the receiver of a firearm under tension
3 . The unitary body sighting device of claim 1 further comprising: An optics rail affixed to said columnar clamp portion and wherein said columnar clamp has at least one threaded hole affixed on a top portion of said columnar clamp means.
4 . The unitary body sighting device of claim 3 wherein said columnar clamp portion has a second threaded hole affixed on said top portion.
5 . The unitary body sighting device of claim 3 wherein said optics rail has a built-in laser pointing device that is in substantial parallel axis configuration with a primary axis of said columnar clamp portion.
6 . The unitary body sighting device of claim 3 wherein the columnar clamp portion has two gripping edges.
7 . The unitary body sighting device of claim 6 wherein at least one of said gripping edges has an indent portion configures to span the wheel potion of a revolver when said unitary body sighting device is affixed thereto.
8 . The unitary body sighting device of claim 6 wherein said indent portion is defined by two gripping tabs where said gripping tabs are configured to grip a fixed revolver by engaging the receiver frame of said revolver.
9 . A snap-on system comprising:
a) a mixed-slot rail having a longitudinal axis, said mixed-slot rail comprising at least one keyed slot having a trapezoidal cross-sectional shape in a direction transverse to said longitudinal axis and at least one slot having a rectangular cross-sectional shape in a direction transverse to said longitudinal axis, said trapezoidal cross-sectional shape is disposed in a manner such that its larger base is disposed on the bottom of said at least one keyed slot having a trapezoidal cross-sectional shape to prevent dislodgement of a similarly shaped pin disposed within said at least one keyed slot having a trapezoidal cross-sectional shape; and b) a snap-on clamp adapted to be removably connected to said mixed-slot rail, said snap-on clamp comprising a U-shaped housing encompassing a space, said housing comprising a length, a height, a longitudinal axis disposed along the length, a peak at a first end along the height of said housing, a pair of resilient side walls, each resilient side wall extending from the peak and terminating at an edge, said pair of resilient side walls cooperatively form two edges which define a mouth disposed at a second end that is opposingly disposed from said first end along the height of said housing, said two edges comprise engaging surfaces urged towards one another, each of said engaging surfaces comprises a profile shaped according to the longitudinal cross sectional profile of a rail style selected from the group consisting of Picatinny and Weaver and when said mouth is urged towards said mixed-slot rail, said mouth opens before closing to hug said mixed-slot rail to secure said mixed-slot rail within said engaging surfaces.Join the waitlist — get patent alerts
