Abstract
Disclosed are methods and compositions for the prevention and treatment of food allergy. In particular, described herein are microbial consortia, including minimal microbial consortia, that can prevent and/or cure food allergy. In certain embodiments, the consortia comprise certain members of the taxa Clostridiales and/or Bacteroidetes.

160 . A pharmaceutical composition, comprising:
a purified mixture of live and isolated bacteria, wherein the purified mixture of live and isolated bacteria comprises: Bacteroides fragilis, Bacteroides ovatus , and Parabacteroides distasonis ; and (ii) a pharmaceutically acceptable carrier, wherein the pharmaceutical composition is formulated for oral administration.
161 . The pharmaceutical composition of claim 161 , wherein the pharmaceutical composition is formulated as a suspension, gel, or fluid-gel.
162 . The pharmaceutical composition of claim 162 , wherein the suspension is an aqueous or oily suspension.
163 . The pharmaceutical composition of claim 160 , wherein the pharmaceutical composition is formulated as a capsule, a reconstituted lyophilisate, a food item, or a liquid.

The pharmaceutical composition of claim 160 , wherein the purified mixture of live and isolated bacteria does not comprise Escherichia coli, Klebsiella pneumoniae, Proteus mirabilis, Enterobacter cloacae, Bilophila wadsworthia, Alistipes onderdonkii, Desulfovibrio species, Lactobacillus johnsonii , or Parasutterella excrementihominis.
172 . A method comprising orally administering to a subject having an inflammatory disorder a pharmaceutical composition comprising:
(i) a purified mixture of live and isolated bacteria for treatment of an inflammatory disorder in an individual in need thereof, wherein the purified mixture of live and isolated bacteria comprises: Bacteroides fragilis, Bacteroides ovatus , and Parabacteroides distasonis; and (ii) a pharmaceutically acceptable carrier, wherein the pharmaceutical composition is formulated for oral administration.
173 . The method of claim 172 , wherein the pharmaceutical composition is formulated as a suspension, gel, or fluid-gel.
174 . The method of claim 172 , wherein the suspension is an aqueous or oily suspension.
175 . The method of claim 172 , wherein the purified mixture of live and isolated bacteria comprises up to 11 strains of bacteria.
176 . The method of claim 172 , wherein the purified mixture of live and isolated bacteria comprises from 4 to 30 strains of bacteria.
177 . The method of claim 172 , wherein the purified mixture of live and isolated bacteria comprises strains present in substantially equal biomass.
