Abstract

A method of controlling the charging of a battery includes determining plural pieces of state information of a battery unit based on a sensed physical quantity of the battery unit, calculating a weight of the battery unit based on the pieces of state information and a correspondence value of each of the plural pieces of state information, and defining, based on the weight, control information corresponding to an input physical quantity in a charging physical quantity of the battery unit, where the input physical quantity is input to a converter of the battery unit.

What is claimed is: 
     
         1 . A battery charging apparatus, the apparatus comprising:
 a processor configured to   determine whether batteries is in unequal state based on at least one of state of charge (SOC) and state of health (SOH) of each of the batteries, and determine a value of charging current for each of the batteries based on the SOH of each of the batteries and a deviation of the SOC of each of the batteries in response to the batteries being in the unequal state.   
     
     
         2 . The apparatus of  claim 1 , wherein the processor is further configured to control charging of the batteries by controlling a converter of each of the batteries based on the determined value of the charging current for each of the batteries. 
     
     
         3 . The apparatus of  claim 1 , wherein the processor is further configured to calculate a value of current for a converter of each of the batteries based on a value of an output current of a charger and a weight of each of the batteries, and determine the value of the charging current for each of the batteries using the value of the output current and the calculated value for the converter. 
     
     
         4 . The apparatus of  claim 3 , wherein the processor is further configured to calculate the weight of each of the batteries based on the SOC and the SOH and a correspondence value of each of the SOC and the SOH. 
     
     
         5 . The apparatus of  claim 4 , wherein the processor is further configured to determine the correspondence value of each of the SOC and the SOH based on a result of comparing each of the SOC and the SOH and statistical information corresponding to each of the SOC and the SOH. 
     
     
         6 . The apparatus of  claim 1 , wherein the processor is further configured to control charging of the batteries such that the batteries be equally charged. 
     
     
         7 . A battery charging method, the method comprising:
 determining whether batteries is in unequal state based on at least one of state of charge (SOC) and state of health (SOH) of each of the batteries; and   determining a value of charging current for each of the batteries based on the SOH of each of the batteries and a deviation of the SOC of each of the batteries in response to the batteries being in the unequal state.   
     
     
         8 . The method of  claim 7 , wherein the controlling of charging comprises controlling charging of the batteries by controlling a converter of each of the batteries based on the determined value of the charging current for each of the batteries. 
     
     
         9 . The method of  claim 7 , wherein the controlling of charging comprises
 calculating a value of current for a converter of each of the batteries based on a value of an output current of a charger and a weight of each of the batteries; and   determining the value of the charging current for each of the batteries using the value of the output current and the calculated value for the converter.   
     
     
         10 . The method of  claim 9 , wherein the controlling of charging comprises calculating the weight of each of the batteries based on the SOC and the SOH and a correspondence value of each of the SOC and the SOH. 
     
     
         11 . The method of  claim 10 , wherein the controlling of charging comprises determining the correspondence value of each of the SOC and the SOH based on a result of comparing each of the SOC and the SOH and statistical information corresponding to each of the SOC and the SOH. 
     
     
         12 . The method of  claim 7 , wherein the controlling of charging comprises controlling charging of the batteries such that the batteries be equally charged.
