Abstract

New lettuce varieties designated ‘Kalista’ and ‘Ezbruke’ are described. ‘Kalista’ and ‘Ezbruke’ are lettuce varieties exhibiting stability and uniformity.

Claims

exact text as granted — not AI-modified
1 . A lettuce seed selected from the group consisting of:
lettuce seed designated as ‘Kalista’, representative sample of seed having been deposited under NCIMB Accession Number 42742; and lettuce seed designated as ‘Ezbruke’, representative sample of seed having been deposited under NCIMB Accession Number 42741.

2 . A lettuce plant produced by growing the seed of claim 1 .

         3 . A plant part from the plant of claim 2 .

4 . The plant part of claim 3 , wherein said part is a head, a leaf, or a portion thereof.

5 . The plant part of claim 4 , wherein said part is a head.

6 . A lettuce plant having all the physiological and morphological characteristics of the lettuce plant of claim 2 .

         7 . A plant part from the plant of claim 6 .

8 . The plant part of claim 7 , wherein said part is a head, a leaf, or a portion thereof.

9 . The plant part of claim 8 , wherein said part is a head.

         10 . An F 1 hybrid lettuce plant, wherein:
the F 1 hybrid lettuce plant has ‘Kalista’ as a parent where ‘Kalista’ is grown from the seed of claim 1 , or the F 1 hybrid lettuce plant has ‘Ezbruke’ as a parent where ‘Ezbruke’ is grown from the seed of claim 1 .

11 . A pollen grain or an ovule of the plant of claim 2 .

         12 . A tissue culture of the plant of claim 2 .

13 . A lettuce plant regenerated from the tissue culture of claim 12 , wherein:
the plant has all of the morphological and physiological characteristics of a lettuce plant produced by growing seed designated as ‘Kalista’, representative sample of seed having been deposited under NCIMB Accession Number 42742, or the plant has all of the morphological and physiological characteristics of a lettuce plant produced by growing seed designated as ‘Ezbruke’, representative sample of seed having been deposited under NCIMB Accession Number 42741.

14 . A method of making lettuce seeds, said method comprising crossing the plant of claim 2 with another lettuce plant and harvesting seed therefrom.

15 . A method of making a lettuce variety selected from the group consisting of ‘Kalista’ and ‘Ezbruke’, said method comprising:
selecting seeds from the cross of one ‘Kalista’ plant with another ‘Kalista’ plant to make lettuce variety ‘Kalista’, a sample of ‘Kalista’ lettuce seed having been deposited under NCIMB Accession Number 42742; or
selecting seeds from the cross of one ‘Ezbruke’ plant with another ‘Ezbruke’ plant to make lettuce variety ‘Ezbruke’, a sample of ‘Ezbruke’ lettuce seed having been deposited under NCIMB Accession Number 42741.
