Method for receiving enhanced service and display apparatus thereof

Abstract

Provided are a method of receiving an enhanced service and a video display device thereof. The method includes: receiving an audio-visual (AV) content; extracting first feature information from the received AV content; receiving a database including at least one of content information, enhanced service information, and an enhanced service, which correspond to the first feature information, from a first server by transmitting the extracted first feature information to the first server; storing the database received from the first server in a memory; extracting second feature information from the received AV content; and searching and obtaining one of content information, enhanced service information, and an enhanced service, which correspond to the extracted feature information, from the database.

         9 . A video display device comprising:
 a display unit;   a receiving unit configured to obtain a broadcast content; and   a control unit configured to execute automatic content recognition (ACR) application,   wherein the control unit is further configured to:   extract one or more video frames from the broadcast content,   transmit a first query including the one or more video frames to a first server,   obtain an address of a second server based on the first query, and   transmit, to the second server, a second query based on the address of the second server, and   obtain an enhanced service based on the second query,   wherein the display unit displays the obtained enhanced service overlaid on the broadcast content,   wherein the enhanced service is a voting event related to the broadcast content.   
     
     
         10 . The video display device according to  claim 9 , wherein the voting event is time-related to the broadcast content,

 wherein the display unit displays enhanced information related to the enhanced service, if an input of user for the button is received.   
     
     
         14 . The video display device according to  claim 13 , wherein the display unit displays a voting question with an user interface for receiving an user input for voting question. 
     
     
         15 . The video display device according to  claim 14 , wherein the display unit displays a voting result with the voting question. 
     
     
         16 . The video display device according to  claim 9 , wherein the receiving unit includes a tuner to receive a broadcast signal including the broadcast content.

         18 . An operating method of a video display device comprising:
 obtaining a broadcast content through a receiving unit;   extracting one or more video frames from the broadcast content;   transmitting a first query including the one or more video frames to a first server;   obtaining an address of a second server based on the first query;   transmitting, to the second server, a second query based on the address of the second server;   obtaining an enhanced service based on the second query; and   displaying the enhanced service overlaid on the broadcast content,   wherein the enhanced service is a voting event related to the broadcast content.   
     
     
         19 . The operating method of the video display device according to  claim 18 , wherein the voting event is time-related to the broadcast content. 
     
     
         20 . The operating method of the video display device according to  claim 18 , wherein the enhanced service is displayed semi-transparently. 
     
     
         21 . The operating method of the video display device according to  claim 18 , wherein the displaying the enhanced service overlaid on the broadcast content comprises,

 displaying a button with the notification message, and   displaying enhanced information related to the enhanced service, if an input of user for the button is received.   
     
     
         23 . The operating method of the video display device according to  claim 22 , wherein the displaying the enhanced service overlaid on the broadcast content comprises displaying a voting question with an user interface for receiving an user input for voting question. 
     
     
         24 . The operating method of the video display device according to  claim 23 , wherein the displaying the voting question comprises, displaying a voting result with the voting question. 
     
     
         25 . The operating method of the video display device according to  claim 18 , the obtaining the broadcast content comprises: receiving a broadcast signal including the broadcast content though a tuner. 
     
     
         26 . The operating method of the video display device according to  claim 18 , wherein the broadcast content is uncompressed video content.
