Claims
Abstract
A pixel portion and a driver circuit driving the pixel portion are formed over the same substrate. At least a part of the driver circuit is faulted using an inverted staggered thin film transistor in which an oxide semiconductor layer is used and a channel protective layer is provided over the oxide semiconductor layer serving as a channel formation region which is overlapped with the gate electrode. The driver circuit as well as the pixel portion is provided over the same substrate to reduce manufacturing costs.

2 . An electronic appliance comprising:
a communication device comprising a speaker; and a display device comprising:
a pixel portion comprising a first transistor comprising:
a first gate electrode;
a gate insulating layer over the first gate electrode; and
a first oxide semiconductor layer over the gate insulating layer;
a driver circuit comprising a second transistor comprising:
a second gate electrode;
the gate insulating layer over the second gate electrode; and
a second oxide semiconductor layer over the gate insulating layer,
wherein the display device and the communication device are attachable to and detachable from each other, and wherein each of the display device and the communication device comprises a rechargeable battery.
3 . The electronic appliance according to claim 2 , wherein input information is transmitted or received by wireless or wire communication between the display device and the communication device.
4 . An electronic appliance comprising:
a communication device comprising a speaker; and a display device comprising:
a pixel portion comprising a first transistor comprising:
a first gate electrode;
a gate insulating layer over the first gate electrode; and
a first oxide semiconductor layer over the gate insulating layer;
a driver circuit comprising a second transistor comprising:
a second gate electrode;
the gate insulating layer over the second gate electrode; and
a second oxide semiconductor layer over the gate insulating layer,
wherein the display device and the communication device are attachable to and detachable from each other along short sides thereof, wherein the display device and the communication device are attachable to and detachable from each other along long sides thereof, and wherein each of the display device and the communication device comprises a rechargeable battery.
5 . The electronic appliance according to claim 4 , wherein input information is transmitted or received by wireless or wire communication between the display device and the communication device.
6 . An electronic appliance comprising:
a communication device comprising an operation button; and a display device comprising:
a pixel portion comprising a first transistor comprising:
a first gate electrode;
a gate insulating layer over the first gate electrode; and
a first oxide semiconductor layer over the gate insulating layer;
a driver circuit comprising a second transistor comprising:
a second gate electrode;
the gate insulating layer over the second gate electrode; and
a second oxide semiconductor layer over the gate insulating layer,
wherein the display device and the communication device are attachable to and detachable from each other, and wherein each of the display device and the communication device comprises a rechargeable battery.
7 . The electronic appliance according to claim 6 , wherein input information is transmitted or received by wireless or wire communication between the display device and the communication device.
8 . An electronic appliance comprising:
a communication device comprising an operation button; and a display device comprising:
a pixel portion comprising a first transistor comprising:

a gate insulating layer over the first gate electrode; and

the gate insulating layer over the second gate electrode; and
a second oxide semiconductor layer over the gate insulating layer,
wherein the display device and the communication device are attachable to and detachable from each other along short sides thereof, wherein the display device and the communication device are attachable to and detachable from each other along long sides thereof, and wherein each of the display device and the communication device comprises a rechargeable battery.
