Abstract
A method of providing information about a predetermined external vehicle on a transparent display of an information providing vehicle, the method including: acquiring status information of the external vehicle; determining a display mode for displaying an object corresponding to the external vehicle based on the acquired status information; and displaying the object corresponding to the external vehicle on the transparent display in the determined display mode, wherein the display mode may include an augmented reality mode displaying an image obtained by overlaying a virtual image on an actual image of the external vehicle that is observed through the transparent display, and a map mode displaying the object corresponding to the external vehicle after mapping the object to a map.

1 . A method of providing information by a vehicle, the method comprising:
obtaining status information regarding the vehicle; determining whether the vehicle is in predetermined condition based on the status information; displaying an image indicating the predetermined condition based on the determination; and providing, by using augmented reality, information about a route to a destination identified based on the predetermined condition.
2 . The method of claim 1 , wherein the status information regarding the vehicle comprises at least one of fuel status information, engine status information, or tire information.
3 . The method of claim 1 , wherein the determining of whether the vehicle is in the predetermined condition comprises:
comparing a predetermined value and one of an amount of remaining fuel, an amount of remaining engine oil, and a pneumatic pressure in a tire; and determining whether the vehicle is in the predetermined condition based on the comparison, and wherein the displaying of the image indicating the predetermined condition comprises displaying the image indicating the predetermined condition based on the determination that the vehicle is in the predetermined condition.
4 . The method of claim 1 , wherein the displaying of the image indicating the predetermined condition comprises displaying a warning message or a warning image informing that the vehicle is in the predetermined condition.
5 . The method of claim 1 , wherein the determining of whether the vehicle is in the predetermined condition comprises:
determining that the vehicle is in the predetermined condition based on an amount of remaining fuel being less than a predetermined value, and wherein the providing of the information about the route comprises: receiving a user input with respect to the displayed image indicating the predetermined condition; searching for a gas station located within a predetermined distance from the vehicle based on the user input; and providing information about a route to the gas station by using the augmented reality.
6 . The method of claim 1 , wherein the determining of whether the vehicle is in the predetermined condition comprises:
determining that the vehicle is in the predetermined condition, based on an amount of remaining engine oil or a pneumatic pressure in a tire being equal to or less than a predetermined value, and wherein the providing of the information about the route comprises: receiving a user input with respect to the displayed image indicating the predetermined condition; searching for a car repair shop located within a predetermined distance from the vehicle based on the user input; and providing information about a route to the car repair shop by using the augmented reality.
7 . The method of claim 1 , wherein the displaying of the image corresponding to the status information comprises:
displaying the image indicating the predetermined condition via a transparent display, and wherein the providing of the information about the route comprises: providing information about the route to the destination by using the augmented reality via the transparent display.
8 . The method of claim 1 , further comprising:
acquiring information regarding an external vehicle; and displaying an object corresponding to the external vehicle based on the information regarding the external vehicle by using the augmented reality.
9 . The method of claim 8 , wherein the displaying of the object corresponding to the external vehicle comprises displaying the object to overlap an image of the external vehicle.
10 . The method of claim 9 , wherein the information regarding the external vehicle comprises:
at least one of location information of the external vehicle, route information, driving speed information, stoppage status information, used traffic lane information, or turning light manipulation status information.
11 . An apparatus for providing information by a vehicle, the apparatus comprising:
a processor; and a memory configured to store instructions executable by the processor, wherein the processor is configured to obtain status information regarding the vehicle and determine whether the vehicle is in predetermined condition based on the status information, and wherein the processor is configured to control a display to display an image indicating the predetermined condition based on the determination and provide, by using augmented reality, information about a route to a destination identified based on the predetermined condition.
12 . The apparatus of claim 11 , wherein the status information regarding the vehicle comprises at least one of fuel status information, engine status information, or tire information.
13 . The apparatus of claim 11 , wherein the processor is further configured to:
compare a predetermined value and one of an amount of remaining fuel, an amount of remaining engine oil, and a pneumatic pressure in a tire; determine whether the vehicle is in the predetermined condition based on the comparison; and control the display to display the image indicating the predetermined condition based on the determination that the vehicle is in the predetermined condition.
14 . The apparatus of claim 11 , wherein the processor is further configured to:
control the display to further display a warning message or a warning image informing that the vehicle is in the predetermined condition.
15 . The apparatus of claim 11 , wherein the processor is further configured to:
determine that the vehicle is in the predetermined condition based on an amount of remaining fuel being less than a predetermined value, receive a user input with respect to the displayed image indicating the predetermined condition, search for a gas station located within a predetermined distance from the vehicle based on the user input, and control the display to provide information about a route to the gas station by using the augmented reality.
16 . The apparatus of claim 11 , wherein the processor is further configured to:
determine that the vehicle is in the predetermined condition based on an amount of remaining engine oil or a pneumatic pressure in a tire being equal to or less than a predetermined value, receive a user input with respect to the displayed image indicating the predetermined condition, search for a car repair shop located within a predetermined distance from the vehicle based on the user input, and control the display to provide information about a route to the car repair shop by using the augmented reality.
17 . The apparatus of claim 11 , wherein the display comprises a transparent display.
18 . The apparatus of claim 11 ,
wherein the processor is further configured to: acquire information regarding an external vehicle via a camera; and control the display to display an object corresponding to the external vehicle based on the information regarding the external vehicle by using the augmented reality.
19 . The apparatus of claim 18 , wherein the processor is further configured to display the object to overlap an image of the external vehicle.
20 . The apparatus of claim 18 , wherein the information regarding the external vehicle comprises:
at least one of location information of the external vehicle, route information, driving speed information, stoppage status information, used traffic lane information, or turning light manipulation status information.
