Abstract

An identification system includes an identification device and a communication device. The identification device is attached to an article and including a sensor. The identification device is configured to operate in a plurality of modes and configured to switch between modes of the plurality of modes based on one or more conditions of a surrounding environment sensed by the sensor. The identification device is configured to send data to a server. The communication device of a user of the identification system is configured to receive data including location data of the identification device from the server using short message service protocols or messages through a signaling channel.

Claims

exact text as granted — not AI-modified
1 . A method of controlling a lock wherein a lock includes a microcontroller arranged to receive data communications and a biaser in operable communication with the microcontroller that allows the lock to assume a locked and unlocked state, the method comprising the steps of receiving a communication in a microcontroller and instructing the biaser to unlock or lock the lock based on the content of the communication.

2 . A method of claim 1 , wherein the data communications may be received by Bluetooth, infrared or other wireless means.

3 . A method of claim 1 , wherein the instructions to the biaser may be transmitted by Bluetooth, infrared or other wireless or wired means.

4 . A method of claim 1 , wherein the microcontroller is operable to process a message having a code, the receipt of which allows the biaser to unlock or lock the lock.

5 . A method of claim 1 , wherein the microcontroller is configured to communicate to a user or nominated authority the state of the lock.
