Method for attachment of decorative pieces to glassware and non-glassware drinking vessels

Abstract

A method of producing a drinking vessel (W) to which a decorative piece (J) is mounted and permanently held in place. The method includes first selecting a decorative piece from a plurality of decorative pieces, then cleaning a portion of the drinking vessel to which the decorative piece is to be attached. Next, a resin is applied to the backside of the decorative piece, the backside being fitted against an outer surface of the drinking vessel, and a glue including a resin sensitive to ultraviolet (UV) light. Finally, the drinking vessel and decorative piece are radiated with an ultraviolet light having a defined wavelength for a predetermined period of time for the light to cure the resin and permanently affix the decorative piece to the wine glass.

A method of producing drinkware, drinking vessels, serving pieces, serving trays, mirrors, soap dispensers and candle holders that are comprised of glass, ceramic, steel, stainless steel or plastic (known as ITEM) to which decorative pieces are mounted and permanently held in place comprising: selecting a decorative piece from a plurality of decorative pieces; cleaning a portion of the ITEM to which the decorative piece is to be attached; applying resin to a backside of the decorative piece, said backside to be fitted against an outer surface of the ITEM, and said glue including a resin sensitive to ultraviolet (UV) light; radiating the ITEM and decorative piece fitted to the ITEM with an ultraviolet light for a predetermined period of time for the light to cure the resin and permanently affix the decorative piece to the ITEM. 
     
     
         2 . The method of  claim 1  further including a rack capable of holding a plurality of ITEM(s) and installing ITEM(s) in the rack prior to fitting a decorative piece to the outer surface of the ITEM. 
     
     
         3 . The method of  claim 2  in which the ITEM is fitted horizontally into the rack. 
     
     
         4 . The method of  claim 2  further including a light fixture installed above the rack and in which are installed fluorescent or LED UVA light bulbs, the method including radiating the ITEM with the fitted decorative piece with light from the UVA light bulbs for a predetermined period of time to cure the resin and permanently affix the decorative piece to the ITEM. 
     
     
         5 . The method of  claim 4  in which the predetermined period of time is approximately up to five (5) minutes. 
     
     
         6 . The method of  claim 3  wherein radiating the ITEM and decorative piece fitted to the ITEM with an ultraviolet light includes radiating them with an ultraviolet light having a wavelength in the range of 400-420 nm. 
     
     
         7 . The method of  claim 2  in which a plurality of ultraviolet light bulbs are mounted on the rack and extend outwardly therefrom each bulb being enclosed by a glassware ITEM when the glassware ITEM is installed on the rack. For non glassware ITEM(s), a plurality of ultraviolet light bulbs are mounted above the ITEM(s) installed on the rack. 
     
     
         8 . The method of  claim 1  further including manufacturing ITEM(s) with decorative pieces attached in batches at the same time with different batches having different decorative pieces attached to the ITEM(s). 
     
     
         9 . A producing drinkware, drinking vessels, serving pieces, serving trays, mirrors, and candle holders that are made of glass, ceramic, steel, stainless steel or plastic (known as ITEM) having a decorative piece permanently attached to it comprising: selecting a decorative piece from a plurality of decorative pieces; cleaning a portion of the ITEM to which the decorative piece is to be attached; applying resin to a backside of the decorative piece, said backside to be fitted against an outer surface of the ITEM, and said glue including a resin sensitive to ultraviolet (UV) light; radiating the ITEM and decorative piece fitted to the ITEM with an ultraviolet light for a predetermined period of time for the light to cure the resin and permanently affix the decorative piece to the ITEM. 
     
     
         10 . The ITEM of  claim 9  in which the ITEM comprising of a: stemmed or stemless wine glass; glass swingtop bottle; pilsner glass; highball glass; coffee mug; candle holder; drinking vessels; serving pieces; serving trays; soap dispensers; and, mirrors; that are made of glass, ceramic, steel, stainless steel or plastic.
