Absorbent article with waist gasketing element and leg cuffs
Abstract
A disposable absorbent article may include a chassis that includes a topsheet, a backsheet, and an absorbent core disposed between the topsheet and the backsheet; and a leg gasketing system and a waist gasketing element. The leg gasketing system may include an inner cuff and an outer cuff; the inner cuff may include an inner cuff folded edge and an inner cuff material edge and the outer cuff may include an outer cuff folded edge and an outer cuff material edge such that the web of material is folded laterally inward to form the outer cuff folded edge and folded laterally outward to form the inner cuff folded edge. The leg gasketing system may also include a leg gasketing system pocket with an opening on an inboard longitudinal edge of the pocket.
Claims
exact text as granted — not AI-modifiedWhat is claimed is:
1 . An absorbent article comprising:
a first waist region, a second waist region, and a crotch region disposed between the first and second waist regions; a first waist edge, a second waist edge, a first longitudinal side edge; and a second longitudinal edge; a chassis comprising a topsheet, a backsheet, and an absorbent core positioned between the topsheet and the backsheet; a leg gasketing system extending from the first waist region to the second waist region; a waist gasketing element comprising an inboard lateral edge, an outboard lateral edge, and two longitudinal edges; and wherein the waist gasketing element is connected with the chassis and positioned in the first waist region such that the waist gasketing element is pressure bonded to the chassis, and at least a portion of the inboard lateral edge of the waist gasketing element is unattached to the chassis.
2 . The absorbent article of claim 1 , wherein the outboard lateral edge of the waist gasketing element is adhesively bonded to the chassis.
3 . The absorbent article of claim 1 , wherein the longitudinal edges of the waist gasketing element are pressure bonded to the leg gasketing system,
4 . The absorbent article of claim 1 , wherein the leg gasketing system comprising an inner cuff and an outer cuff.
5 . The absorbent article of claim 4 , wherein the longitudinal edges of the waist gasketing element are bonded to the inner cuff of the leg gasketing system.
6 . The absorbent article of claim 1 , wherein the waist gasketing element comprises an elastomeric film.
7 . The absorbent article of claim 6 , wherein the waist gasketing element further comprises a nonwoven.
8 . The absorbent article of claim 1 , wherein the outboard lateral edge of the waist gasketing element is bonded at the first waist edge.
9 . The absorbent article of claim 1 , wherein the outboard lateral edge of the waist gasketing element is bonded longitudinally inboard of the first waist edge.
10 . The absorbent article of claim 1 , wherein the chassis comprises a body-facing surface and a garment-facing surface, and wherein the waist gasketing element is connected with the body facing surface of the chassis.
11 . The absorbent article of claim 1 , further comprising a second waist gasketing element comprising an inboard lateral edge, an outboard lateral edge, and two longitudinal edges.
12 . The absorbent article of claim 11 , wherein the second waist gasketing element is connected with the chassis and positioned in the second waist region.
13 . The absorbent article of claim 11 , wherein at least a portion of the inboard lateral edge of the second waist gasketing element is unattached to the chassis.
14 . The absorbent article of claim 11 , wherein the second waist gasketing element is pressure bonded to the chassis.
15 . The absorbent article of claim 11 , wherein the outboard lateral edge of the second waist gasketing element is adhesively bonded to the chassis.
16 . The absorbent article of claim 11 , wherein the longitudinal edges of the second waist gasketing element are pressure bonded to the leg gasketing system,
17 . The absorbent article of claim 11 , wherein the leg gasketing system comprising an inner cuff and an outer cuff.
18 . The absorbent article of claim 17 , wherein the longitudinal edges of the second waist gasketing element are bonded to the inner cuff of the leg gasketing system.
19 . The absorbent article of claim 11 , wherein the outboard lateral edge of the second waist gasketing element is bonded at the second waist edge.
20 . The absorbent article of claim 1 , wherein the first waist region comprises a rear waist region.Join the waitlist — get patent alerts
