Abstract

A liquid water-based solution for application of temporary floor markings on a polyurethane coated floor and a method of applying the same is disclosed. According to one aspect, the solution comprises an acrylic copolymer, a surfactant, and a coloring agent. The solution is dispensable through a foam applicator so that it can be used to form temporary lines for recreational and athletic activities. The solution has a drying time when applied to the polyurethane floor of under five minutes and can remain water soluble for an extended period of time so that it can be removed without damaging the underlying surface.

Claims

exact text as granted — not AI-modified
1 . A temporary water-soluble floor mark pattern for a polyurethane coated wood floor, the floor marking pattern comprising:
a first line formed according to a line marking plan based on a desired activity; and a second line formed according to the line marking plan and based on the desired activity, wherein the second line is contiguous with the first line, wherein the first line and second line are formed by application of a liquid water-based solution having a mixture of an acrylic copolymer, a surfactant, and a coloring agent, wherein the first line and second line are water soluble, and wherein the first line and second line are durable to impact from soft soled shoes.

2 . The temporary water-soluble floor mark pattern of claim 1 , wherein the liquid water-based solution comprises:
5-15% by weight of an acrylic copolymer, 1%-2% propylene glycol, 0.5%-2% dipropylene glycol mono-methyl-ether, 2-8% of titanium dioxide; and 1-5% of ethelyne glycol, wherein the solution is dispensable through a foam applicator, and wherein the solution has a drying time when applied to the polyurethane floor of under five minutes.

3 . The temporary water-soluble floor mark pattern of claim 1 , wherein the solution further comprises 1-5% of gum Arabic.

4 . The temporary water-soluble floor mark pattern of claim 1 , wherein the solution further comprises 1-2% of a leveling agent.

5 . The temporary water-soluble floor mark pattern of claim 1 , wherein the desired activity is a recreational activity.

6 . The temporary water-soluble floor mark pattern of claim 5 , wherein the first line and the second line are boundary lines for the recreational activity.

7 . A method of forming a temporary water-soluble floor mark pattern on a polyurethane coated wood surface, the method comprising:
determining a line marking plan based on a desired activity, applying a liquid water-based solution containing an acrylic copoloymer resin to the surface based on the determined line plan to form a first line; applying a liquid water-based solution containing an acrylic copoloymer, a surfactant, and a coloring agent to the surface based on the determined line plan to form a second line, wherein the second line is contiguous to the first line; waiting a prescribed drying time prior to commencing the activity, wherein the prescribed drying time is less than five minutes; and removing the first line and second line once the activity has been completed by utilizing a water-based cleaning agent, wherein the first line and second line are water-soluble, wherein the first line and second line are durable to impact from soft soled shoes.

8 . The method of claim 7 , wherein the liquid water-based solution comprises 5-15% by weight of an acrylic copolymer, 1%-2% propylene glycol, 0.5%-2% dipropylene glycol mono-methyl-ether, 2-8% of titanium dioxide; and 1-5% of ethelyne glycol.

9 . The method of claim 7 , wherein the liquid water-based solution is specifically formulated for application to a polyurethane coated surface.

10 . The method of claim 7 , wherein the drying time of the solution is less than 5 minutes.

11 . The method of claim 7 , wherein the line marking plan is based on a recreational activity.

12 . The method of claim 1 , wherein the line marking plan is based on a particular sport's boundary and playing surface lines.
