Abstract
A breathing support system is provided. The system may include a breathing support device configured to deliver gas to a patient and a display device associated with the breathing support device. The display device may be configured to display a work of breathing graphic indicating one or more work of breathing measures regarding the patient's breathing.
Claims

move the patient work of breathing indicator along the numerical indices on the WOB graphic to indicate the second patient work of breathing.
7 . The ventilator system according to claim 6 , wherein the computer executable instructions when executed further cause the ventilator system to:
in response to receiving the first data from the one or more sensors, calculate a first total work of breathing; display on the WOB graphic a total work of breathing indicator representing the first total work of breathing; in response to receiving the second data from the one or more sensors, calculate a second total work of breathing; and move the total work of breathing indicator along the numerical indices on the WOB graphic to indicate the second total work of breathing.
8 . The ventilator system according to claim 6 , wherein the first data is one of pressure or flow of gas delivered to a patient during ventilation by the ventilator system.
9 . The ventilator system according to claim 6 , wherein the computer executable instructions when executed further cause the ventilator system to:
in response to receiving the first data from the one or more sensors, calculate an elastic work of breathing and a resistive work of breathing; and display an elastic-resistive work of breathing indicator representing the elastic work of breathing and the resistive work of breathing on a WOB scale related to the WOB graphic.
10 . The ventilator system according to claim 7 , wherein the computer executable instructions when executed further cause the ventilator system to:
in response to receiving the first data from the one or more sensors, calculate a device work of breathing; and display a device work of breathing indicator representing the device work of breathing associated with the first total work of breathing on the WOB graphic.
11 . The ventilator system according to claim 6 , wherein the numerical indices are displayed in the units of joules per minute (J/min).
12 . The ventilator system according to claim 6 , wherein the numerical indices are displayed on at least one of a circular scale, a semicircular scale, or an elliptical scale.
13 . The ventilator system according to claim 6 , wherein numerical indices are divided into sectors corresponding to different work of breathing components.
14 . A ventilator-implemented method comprising:
displaying a work of breathing (WOB) graphic, wherein the WOB graphic is of a constant size and includes numerical indices displayed in units of at least one of: joules (J), joules per liter (J/L), joules per minute (J/min), or joules per minute per kilogram (J/min/kg); in response to receiving first data from one or more sensors, calculating a first patient work of breathing; displaying, on the WOB graphic, a patient work of breathing indicator representing the patient work of breathing; in response to receiving second data from the one or more sensors, calculating a second patient work of breathing; and moving the patient work of breathing indicator along the numerical indices on the WOB graphic to indicate the second patient work of breathing.
15 . The ventilator-implemented method of claim 14 , further comprising:
in response to receiving the first data from the one or more sensors, calculating a first total work of breathing; displaying, on the WOB graphic, a total work of breathing indicator representing the first total work of breathing; in response to receiving the second data from the one or more sensors, calculating a second total work of breathing; and moving the total work of breathing indicator along the numerical indices on the WOB graphic to indicate the second total work of breathing.
16 . The ventilator-implemented method of claim 15 , further comprising:
in response to receiving the first data from the one or more sensors, calculating a device work of breathing; and displaying a device work of breathing indicator representing the device work of breathing associated with the first total work of breathing on the WOB graphic.
17 . The ventilator-implemented method of claim 14 , wherein the first data is one of pressure or flow of gas delivered to a patient during ventilation by the ventilator.
18 . The ventilator-implemented method of claim 14 , further comprising:
in response to receiving the first data from the one or more sensors, calculating an elastic work of breathing and a resistive work of breathing; and displaying an elastic-resistive work of breathing indicator representing the elastic work of breathing and the resistive work of breathing on a WOB scale related to the WOB graphic.
19 . The ventilator-implemented method of claim 14 , wherein the numerical indices are displayed in the units of joules per minute (J/min).
20 . The ventilator-implemented method of claim 14 , wherein the numerical indices are displayed on at least one of a circular scale, a semicircular scale, or an elliptical scale.
21 . The ventilator-implemented method of claim 14 , wherein numerical indices are divided into sectors corresponding to different work of breathing components.
22 . The ventilator-implemented method of claim 14 , wherein the WOB graphic is displayed on a display screen of the ventilator.
