System and method of addressing a piece of mail

Abstract

An automated system and method for addressing a piece of mail. The system and method places mailing addresses from a scrubbed list of address onto advertisements.

What is claimed is: 
     
         1 . A method, comprising:
 receiving, at a computer system, notifications from one or more persons associated with residential mailing addresses on a residential mailing address list for a geographical area, wherein the notifications comprise consent to receive electronic representations of advertisements and residential mailing addresses of the one or more persons from whom the notifications were received;   generating, by the computer system, a scrubbed mailing address list for the geographical area by removing, from the residential mailing address list for the geographical area, the residential mailing addresses of the one or more persons from the received notifications, wherein the generated scrubbed mailing address list is a list of residential mailing addresses in the geographical area that are configured to receive mailed advertisements from one or more advertisers;   transmitting, by the computer system, the scrubbed mailing address list to at least one advertiser;   assessing, by the computer system, whether the one or more persons from the received notifications have accessed at least one electronic representation of at least one advertisement according to a requirement;   in response to at least one person of the one or more persons being determined to have failed to access the at least one electronic representation of the at least one advertisement according to the requirement:
 updating, by the computer system, the scrubbed mailing address list by adding the residential mailing address of the at least one person being determined to have failed to access the at least one electronic representation; and 
 generating, by the computer system, an update for the at least one advertiser based on the updated scrubbed mailing address list. 
   
     
     
         2 . The method of  claim 1 , wherein assessing whether the one or more persons from the received notifications have accessed the at least one electronic representation of the at least one advertisement according to the requirement comprises determining whether the one or more persons have performed at least one activity related to the at least one electronic representation of the at least one advertisement over a predetermined period of time. 
     
     
         3 . The method of  claim 1 , further comprising transmitting, by the computer system, the at least one electronic representation of the at least one advertisement for the at least one advertiser to the one or more persons from the received notifications. 
     
     
         4 . The method of  claim 1 , wherein the update generated for the at least one advertiser is the updated scrubbed mailing address list. 
     
     
         5 . The method of  claim 1 , wherein the update generated for the at least one advertiser includes the residential mailing address of the at least one person being determined to have failed to access the at least one electronic representation. 
     
     
         6 . The method of  claim 1 , wherein the update generated for the at least one advertiser includes an updated electronic delivery list, and wherein the updated electronic delivery list includes the residential mailing addresses of the one or more persons from whom the notifications that consent to receive electronic representations of advertisements were received along with the residential mailing addresses of at least one of the one or more persons being determined to have accessed the at least one electronic representation of the at least one advertisement according to the requirement. 
     
     
         7 . The method of  claim 1 , further comprising transmitting, by the computer system, the generated update to the at least one advertiser. 
     
     
         8 . The method of  claim 1 , further comprising providing, by the computer system, access to the generated update for the at least one advertiser. 
     
     
         9 . The method of  claim 1 , wherein transmitting the scrubbed mailing address list to the at least one advertiser includes providing access to the scrubbed mailing address list for the at least one advertiser. 
     
     
         10 . The method of  claim 1 , wherein transmitting the scrubbed mailing address list to the at least one advertiser includes transmitting an electronic delivery list to the at least one advertiser, wherein the electronic delivery list includes the residential mailing addresses of the one or more persons from whom the notifications that consent to receive electronic representations of advertisements were received. 
     
     
         11 . A system, comprising:
 a processor;   a memory coupled to the processor; and   nontransitory program instructions stored in the memory;   wherein the processor executes the nontransitory program instructions, and wherein the nontransitory program instructions cause the processor to:
 receive notifications from one or more persons associated with residential mailing addresses on a residential mailing address list for a geographical area, wherein the notifications comprise consent to receive electronic representations of advertisements and residential mailing addresses of the one or more persons from whom the notifications were received; 
 generate an electronic delivery list for the geographical area, wherein the electronic delivery list includes the residential mailing addresses of the one or more persons from whom the notifications that consent to receive electronic representations of advertisements were received; 
 transmit the electronic delivery list to at least one advertiser; 
 assess whether one or more persons at residential mailing addresses from the electronic delivery list have accessed at least one electronic representation of at least one advertisement according to a requirement; and 
   wherein the nontransitory program instructions cause the processor to, in response to at least one person of the one or more persons at residential mailing addresses from the electronic delivery list being determined to have failed to access the at least one electronic representation of the at least one advertisement according to the requirement:
 update the electronic delivery list by removing the residential mailing address of the at least one person being determined to have failed to access the at least one electronic representation from the electronic delivery list; and 
 generate an update for the at least one advertiser based on the updated electronic delivery list. 
   
     
     
         12 . The system of  claim 11 , wherein the nontransitory program instructions cause the processor to assess whether the one or more persons at residential mailing addresses from the electronic delivery list have accessed the at least one electronic representation of the at least one advertisement according to the requirement by determining whether the one or more persons at residential mailing addresses from the electronic delivery list have performed at least one activity related to the at least one electronic representation of the at least one advertisement over a predetermined period of time. 
     
     
         13 . The system of  claim 11 , wherein the nontransitory program instructions cause the processor to transmit an electronic representation of the at least one advertisement for the at least one advertiser to at least one person from the electronic delivery list. 
     
     
         14 . The system of  claim 11 , wherein the update generated for the at least one advertiser is the updated electronic delivery list. 
     
     
         15 . The system of  claim 11 , wherein the update generated for the at least one advertiser includes the residential mailing address of the at least one person being determined to have failed to access the at least one electronic representation. 
     
     
         16 . The system of  claim 11 , wherein the nontransitory program instructions cause the processor to transmit the generated update to the at least one advertiser. 
     
     
         17 . The system of  claim 11 , wherein the nontransitory program instructions cause the processor to provide the at least one advertiser access to the generated update. 
     
     
         18 . A non-transitory computer-readable medium having instructions stored thereon that are executable by a computing device to perform operations, comprising:
 receiving an electronic delivery list for a geographical area, wherein the electronic delivery list includes a list of one or more persons associated with residential mailing addresses for the geographical area that have provided notifications of consent to receive electronic representations of advertisements;   generating a scrubbed mailing address list for the geographical area by removing, from a residential mailing address list for the geographical area, the residential mailing addresses associated with the one or more persons from the electronic delivery list, wherein the generated scrubbed mailing address list is a list of residential mailing addresses in the geographical area that are configured to receive mailed advertisements from at least one advertiser;   receiving an update to the electronic delivery list for the geographic area, wherein the update is based on an assessment that at least one of the one or more persons from the electronic delivery list has been determined to have failed to access at least one electronic representation of at least one advertisement according to a requirement; and   updating the scrubbed mailing address list for the geographical area based on the update, wherein updating the scrubbed mailing address list includes adding at least one residential mailing address of at least one person from the electronic delivery list that has been determined to have failed to access the at least one electronic representation of the at least one advertisement according to the requirement.

The non-transitory computer-readable medium of  claim 18 , wherein the update includes a list of the at least one of the one or more persons from the electronic delivery list that have been determined to have failed to access the at least one electronic representation of the at least one advertisement according to the requirement. 
     
     
         20 . The non-transitory computer-readable medium of  claim 18 , wherein the update includes an updated electronic delivery list in which the at least one of the one or more persons from the electronic delivery list that have been determined to have failed to access the at least one electronic representation of the at least one advertisement according to the requirement are removed from the electronic delivery list.
