Abstract

The present invention relates to an APJ receptor agonist for use in the treatment or the prevention of diabetes.

1 . A method for preventing or treating diabetes comprising
 administering to a subject in need thereof a therapeutically effective amount of an APJ receptor agonist.   
     
     
         2 . The method of  claim 1 , wherein the therapeutically effective amount of an APJ receptor agonist ranges from 10 nmol/kg to 200 nmol/kg per day. 
     
     
         3 . The method of  claim 2 , wherein the therapeutically effective amount of an APJ receptor agonist ranges from 20 nmol/kg to 40 nmol/kg per day. 
     
     
         4 . The method of  claim 3 , wherein the therapeutically effective amount of an APJ receptor agonist is 30 nmol/kg per day. 
     
     
         5 . The method of  claim 1 , wherein the APJ receptor agonist is apelin. 
     
     
         6 . The method of  claim 1 , wherein the APJ receptor agonist is (Pyr1)apelin-13. 
     
     
         7 . The method of  claim 1 , wherein the APJ receptor agonist is an apelinomimetic.
