Claims

Abstract

A cosmetic applicator includes a container for containing a product to be dispensed and a tip threadably retained on the container. The tip includes an application surface including a thermal member and an opening in the application surface in fluid communication with the container through which the product is dispensed. The tip application surface is configured to contact a user's skin to apply the product to be dispensed and an opening in the application surface through which the product to be dispensed is dispensed from the reservoir. At least one of the dispensing tip or the cap includes a thermal member.

What is claimed is: 
     
         1 . A cosmetic applicator comprising:
 a container for containing a cosmetic product to be dispensed wherein the container includes a body and a neck defining an open end of the container, wherein the container comprises external threads;   a tip comprising a thermal material, the tip including an application surface with an opening in fluid communication with the container through a product delivery passageway, the tip having a skirt extending linearly and downwardly therefrom, the skirt having internal threads for mating with the external threads on the container, wherein an entirety of the tip including the application surface and skirt is formed as a unitary member; and   a sealing member spaced apart radially from the skirt.   
     
     
         2 . The cosmetic applicator of  claim 1 , wherein the sealing member extends downwardly from the tip, the sealing member configured to contact a top surface of the neck. 
     
     
         3 . The cosmetic applicator of  claim 1 , wherein the sealing member extends downwardly from the tip, the sealing member configured to extend into the neck of the container. 
     
     
         4 . The cosmetic applicator of  claim 3 , wherein the neck of the container is disposed between the skirt and the sealing member when the tip is secured to the container. 
     
     
         5 . The cosmetic applicator of  claim 1 , wherein the tip alone defines the product delivery passageway. 
     
     
         6 . The cosmetic applicator of  claim 1 , wherein the body has a first diameter and the neck has a second diameter that is smaller than the first diameter. 
     
     
         7 . The cosmetic applicator of  claim 6 , wherein a diameter of the skirt is the same as or smaller than the first diameter of the body. 
     
     
         8 . The cosmetic applicator of  claim 1 , wherein the thermal material comprises at least one of metal, ceramic, and a stone material. 
     
     
         9 . The cosmetic applicator of  claim 1 , wherein the thermal material has a thermal conductivity of at least 1 watt/meter-kelvin. 
     
     
         10 . The cosmetic applicator of  claim 1 , wherein the thermal material has a heat capacity of at most about 1.1 kilojoules/kilogram-kelvin. 
     
     
         11 . The cosmetic applicator of  claim 1 , further comprising a cap selectively securable to one of the container and the tip to selectively cover and expose the opening in the application surface, wherein the cap is selectively securable to one of the container and the tip using at least one of a threaded engagement, a snap fit, and a friction fit. 
     
     
         12 . The cosmetic applicator of  claim 11 , wherein the cap further comprises a cap application surface including a thermal material. 
     
     
         13 . The cosmetic applicator of  claim 12 , wherein one of the application surface on the tip and the cap application surface is formed from a thermal material having a cooling effect and the other of the application surface on the tip and the cap application surface is formed from a thermal material having a warming effect. 
     
     
         14 . The cosmetic applicator of  claim 12 , wherein one of the application surface on the tip and the cap application surface has a smooth surface texture and the other of the application surface on the tip and the cap application surface has a bumpy surface texture. 
     
     
         15 . A cosmetic applicator comprising:
 a container for containing a product to be dispensed, the container comprising a closed end, an open end, and external threads; and   a thermal tip comprising a thermal member including one or more of a ceramic, a metal, and a stone material, the thermal tip comprising:
 an application surface for applying the product to a surface, the application surface defining an opening; 
 a product delivery passageway in fluid communication with the opening and the open end of the container, an entirety of the product delivery passageway from the opening to the open end of the container defined by the thermal tip alone; 
 a skirt defined by a single downwardly extending wall configured to fit over and attach to an outer surface of the container; and 
 a sealing member radially spaced apart from the skirt, the sealing member configured to extend into the open end of the container or to contact a top surface of the open end of the container. 
   
     
     
         16 . The cosmetic applicator of  claim 15 , wherein the thermal member includes the skirt and application surface. 
     
     
         17 . The cosmetic applicator of  claim 15 , further comprising a cap selectively securable to one of the container and the thermal tip to selectively cover and expose the opening in the application surface, wherein the cap further comprises a cap application surface including a thermal material. 
     
     
         18 . The cosmetic applicator of  claim 17 , wherein one of the application surface on the thermal tip and the cap application surface is formed from a thermal material having a cooling effect and the other of the application surface on the thermal tip and the cap application surface is formed from a thermal material having a warming effect. 
     
     
         19 . The cosmetic applicator of  claim 17 , wherein the application surface on the thermal tip and the cap application surface have different surface textures. 
     
     
         20 . A cosmetic applicator comprising:
 a container containing a product to be dispensed, the container having a body portion and a neck portion defining an open end;   a dispensing tip disposed on the neck portion, the dispensing tip comprising:
 a thermal member including one or more of a ceramic, a metal, and a stone material, the thermal member defining a thermal application surface with an opening therein and a product delivery passageway in fluid communication with the opening and the open end of the container, the thermal member alone defining the product delivery passageway; 
 a skirt defined by a wall portion extending linearly and downwardly from the thermal member to a terminal end, an inner surface of the wall portion configured to engage an outer surface of the neck portion of the container; and 
 a sealing member radially spaced apart from the skirt, the sealing member configured to contact an inner surface of the neck portion; and 
   a cap selectively securable to one of the container and the dispensing tip to selectively cover and expose the opening in the thermal application surface, the cap defining a cap application surface, wherein one of the thermal application surface on the dispensing tip and the cap application surface is formed from a material having a cooling effect and the other of the thermal application surface on the dispensing tip and the cap application surface is formed from a material having a warming effect.
