Abstract
The present disclosure relates to a pre-5th-generation (5G) or 5G communication system to be provided for supporting higher data rates beyond 4th-generation (4G) communication system such as a long term evolution (LTE). A method for communication by a base station is provided. The method includes transmitting a scheduling assignment including a first part of a destination identifier (ID), and transmitting a medium access control (MAC) protocol data unit (PDU) including a MAC header including a user equipment (UE) ID and a second part of the destination ID.
Claims
exact text as granted — not AI-modifiedWhat is claimed is:
1 . A method for device to device (D2D) communication by an electronic device, the method comprising:
identifying a medium access control (MAC) protocol data unit (PDU) including at least one MAC service data unit (SDU) and a MAC header, wherein the MAC header includes at least one MAC subheader and a subheader for D2D communication; and transmitting the MAC PDU over a channel for D2D communication, wherein the subheader for D2D communication comprises information on a version of a format of the MAC PDU, information on an identity of a source, and information on an identity of a destination.
2 . The method of claim 1 , wherein the information on the identity of a source includes an identifier (ID) of the electronic device.
3 . The method of claim 1 , wherein the information on the identity of the destination includes an ID of another electronic device or an ID of an electronic device group.
4 . The method of claim 1 , wherein the subheader for D2D communication is placed ahead of the at least one MAC subheader in the MAC header.
5 . The method of claim 4 , wherein if the MAC header further includes at least one padding subheader for one-byte padding or two-byte padding, the at least one padding subheader is placed after the subheader for D2D communication and before the at least one MAC subheader.
6 . A method for device to device (D2D) communication by an electronic device, the method comprising:
receiving a medium access control (MAC) protocol data unit (PDU) including at least one MAC service data unit (SDU) and an MAC header over a channel for D2D communication, wherein the MAC header includes at least one MAC subheader and a subheader for D2D communication; and processing the received MAC PDU, wherein the subheader for D2D communication comprises information on a version of a format of the MAC PDU, information on an identity of a source, and information on an identity of a destination.
7 . The method of claim 6 , wherein the information on the identity of a source includes an identifier (ID) of another electronic device which transmitted the MAC PDU.
8 . The method of claim 6 , wherein the information on the identity of the destination includes an ID of the electronic device or an ID of an electronic device group where the electronic device belongs.
9 . The method of claim 6 , wherein the subheader for D2D communication is placed ahead of the at least one MAC subheader in the MAC header.
10 . The method of claim 9 , wherein if the MAC header further includes at least one padding subheader for one-byte padding or two-byte padding, the at least one padding subheader is placed after the subheader for D2D communication and before the at least one MAC subheader.
11 . An electronic device for device to device (D2D) communication, the electronic device comprising:
a transceiver; and at least one processor coupled to the transceiver, wherein the at least one processor is configured to:
identify a medium access control (MAC) protocol data unit (PDU) including at least one MAC service data unit (SDU) and a MAC header, wherein the MAC header includes at least one MAC subheader and a subheader for D2D communication; and
transmit the MAC PDU over a channel for D2D communication,
wherein the subheader for D2D communication comprises information on a version of a format of the MAC PDU, information on an identity of a source, and information on an identity of a destination.
12 . The electronic device of claim 11 , wherein the information on the identity of a source includes an identifier (ID) of the electronic device.
13 . The electronic device of claim 11 , wherein the information on the identity of the destination includes an ID of another electronic device or an ID of an electronic device group.
14 . The electronic device of claim 11 , wherein the subheader for D2D communication is placed ahead of the at least one MAC subheader in the MAC header.
15 . The electronic device of claim 14 , wherein if the MAC header further includes at least one padding subheader for one-byte padding or two-byte padding, the at least one padding subheader is placed after the subheader for D2D communication and before the at least one MAC subheader.
16 . An electronic device for device to device (D2D) communication the electronic device comprising:
a transceiver; and at least one processor coupled to the transceiver, wherein the at least one processor is configured to:
receive a medium access control (MAC) protocol data unit (PDU) including at least one MAC service data unit (SDU) and a MAC header over a channel for D2D communication, wherein the MAC header includes at least one MAC subheader and a subheader for D2D communication, and
process the received MAC PDU,
wherein the subheader for D2D communication comprises information on a version of a format of the MAC PDU, information on an identity of a source, and information on an identity of a destination.
17 . The electronic device of claim 16 , wherein the information on the identity of a source includes an identifier (ID) of another electronic device which transmitted the MAC PDU.
18 . The electronic device of claim 16 , wherein the information on the identity of the destination includes an ID of the electronic device or an ID of an electronic device group where the electronic device belongs.
19 . The electronic device of claim 16 , wherein the subheader for D2D communication is placed ahead of the at least one MAC subheader in the MAC header.
20 . The electronic device of claim 19 , wherein if the MAC header further includes at least one padding subheader for one-byte padding or two-byte padding, the at least one padding subheader is placed after the subheader for D2D communication and before the at least one MAC subheader.Join the waitlist — get patent alerts
