Abstract
Methods and systems for managing data and/or operations on data such as content are disclosed. A method can comprise transmitting content to facilitate playback of the content. A trick play operation relating to the transmitted content can be detected. A threshold bandwidth can be determined based on normal playback of the content. A frame rate of the transmitted content can be adjusted during the trick play operation such that a bandwidth of the trick play operation is less than or equal to the determined threshold bandwidth.

receiving a content asset; receiving an indication of a trick play operation; and adjusting, based on determining a bandwidth associated with one or more playback devices, a frame rate of the content asset during the trick play operation such that the bandwidth associated with the one or more playback devices during the trick play operation complies with a bandwidth threshold.
2 . The method of claim 1 , wherein the bandwidth associated with the one or more playback devices comprises a bandwidth between the one or more playback devices and a gateway device with which the playback devices are configured to communicate.
3 . The method of claim 1 , wherein the content asset comprises audio information, video information, index information, or a combination thereof.
4 . The method of claim 1 , wherein the method further comprises sending, to the one or more playback devices, the content asset having the adjusted frame rate.
5 . The method of claim 1 , further comprising determining the bandwidth threshold based on determining a bandwidth associated with a storage medium associated with the one or more playback devices.
6 . The method of claim 5 , wherein the storage medium comprises a flash memory.
7 . The method of claim 2 , further comprising determining the bandwidth threshold based at least in part on a quantity of the one or more playback devices configured to receive content from the gateway device.
8 . The method of claim 1 , wherein the adjusting the frame rate comprises reducing a quantity of frames in at least a portion of the content asset.
9 . A device comprising:
one or more processors; and memory storing instructions that, when executed by the one or more processors, cause the device to:
receive a content asset;
receive an indication of a trick play operation; and
adjust, based on determining a bandwidth associated with one or more playback devices, a frame rate of the content asset during the trick play operation such that the bandwidth associated with the one or more playback devices during the trick play operation complies with a bandwidth threshold.
10 . The device of claim 9 , wherein the instructions, when further executed by the one or more processors, cause the device to:
determine the bandwidth threshold based on the received indication of the trick play operation and the bandwidth associated with the one or more playback devices configured to communicate with the device for playback of the content asset at a normal rate.
11 . The device of claim 9 , wherein the content asset comprises audio information, video information, index information, or a combination thereof.
12 . The device of claim 9 , wherein the instructions, when further executed by the one or more processors, cause the device to determine the bandwidth threshold by determining an allocation associated with a storage medium associated with the one or more playback devices.
13 . The device of claim 9 , wherein the instructions, when further executed by the one or more processors, cause the device to determine the bandwidth threshold based at least in part on a quantity of a plurality of active communication sessions.
14 . The device of claim 9 , wherein the instructions, when further executed by the one or more processors, cause the device to determine the bandwidth threshold based at least in part on a quantity of the one or more playback devices configured to receive content from the device.
15 . The device of claim 9 , wherein the instructions, when further executed by the one or more processors, cause the device to adjust the frame rate by reducing a quantity of frames in at least a portion of the content asset.
16 . A system comprising:
one or more playback devices; and a computing device configured to communicate with the one or more playback devices, wherein the computing device is configured to:
receive a content asset;
receive an indication of a trick play operation; and
adjust, based on determining a bandwidth associated with one or more playback devices, a frame rate of the content asset during the trick play operation such that the bandwidth associated with the one or more playback devices during the trick play operation complies with a bandwidth threshold.
17 . The system of claim 16 , wherein the computing device is further configured to determine the bandwidth based on the received indication of the trick play operation and the bandwidth associated with the one or more playback devices configured to communicate with the computing device for playback of the content asset at a normal rate.
18 . The system of claim 16 , wherein the computing device is further configured to:
send, to the one or more playback devices, the content asset having the adjusted frame rate.
19 . The system of claim 18 , wherein the adjusted frame rate comprises a decreased quantity of frames.
