Compositions and methods for enhancing sexual pleasure and performance

Abstract

Composition for the treatment of sexual dysfunction, such as erectile dysfunction, low sexual desire, arousal disorder, and orgasmic disorder in a male or female. The composition includes (i) a therapeutically effective amount of a cannabinoid component that enhances sexual sensitivity and pleasure including at least one of tetrahydrocannabinol and cannabidiol and (ii) a therapeutically effective amount of a sexual response component that increase blood flow to the genital region selected from sildenafil, tadalafil, vardenafil, L-arginine, yohimbe, ginseng, Gingko biloba, horny goat weed, and herbal supplements that increase blood flow to the genital region. The amounts and/or ratio of THC and CBD can be selected depending on age, gender, physical health, and/or psychological condition of the user. The cannabinoid component and the sexual response component interact synergistically to treat various types of human sexual dysfunction.

What is claimed is: 
     
         1 . A composition for treatment of sexual dysfunction in a subject in need thereof comprising:
 a dosage form selected from capsules, tablets, oral drops, infused edibles, infused food preparations, brownies, massage oils, lotions, gels, creams, lubricants, patches, and suppositories, the dosage form containing:
 a therapeutically effective amount of a cannabinoid component comprising at least one of tetrahydrocannabinol and cannabidiol; and 
 a therapeutically effective amount of a sexual response component selected from sildenafil, tadalafil, vardenafil, L-arginine, yohimbe,  ginseng, gingko biloba , horny goat weed, and herbal supplements that increase blood flow to the genital region and are not cannabinoids, 
   the cannabinoid component and the sexual response component effectively treating sexual dysfunction in the subject in need thereof.   
     
     
         2 . The composition of  claim 1 , wherein the cannabinoid component contains about 10-500 mg of tetrahydrocannabinol. 
     
     
         3 . The composition of  claim 1 , wherein the cannabinoid component contains about 10-250 mg of tetrahydrocannabinol. 
     
     
         4 . The composition of  claim 1 , wherein the cannabinoid component contains about 10-500 mg of cannabidiol. 
     
     
         5 . The composition of  claim 1 , wherein the cannabinoid component contains about 10-250 mg of cannabidiol. 
     
     
         6 . The composition of  claim 1 , wherein the dosage form comprises an infused edible or infused food preparation. 
     
     
         7 . The composition of  claim 6 , wherein the infused edible or infused food preparation is selected from lozenges, lollipops, brownies, cookies, chocolates, chews, gum drops, soft candies, hard candies, and liquid shots. 
     
     
         8 . The composition of  claim 1 , wherein the dosage form comprises a capsule or tablet. 
     
     
         9 . The composition of  claim 1 , wherein the dosage form is selected from massage oil, lotion, gel, cream, lubricant, patch, and suppository. 
     
     
         10 . The composition of  claim 1 , wherein the sexual dysfunction is selected from erectile dysfunction, low sexual desire, arousal disorder, and orgasmic disorder. 
     
     
         11 . The composition of  claim 1 , wherein the sexual response component is selected from the group consisting of L-arginine, yohimbe,  ginseng, gingko biloba , horny goat weed, and herbal supplements that increase blood flow to the genital region and are not cannabinoids. 
     
     
         12 . A composition for treatment of female sexual dysfunction selected from low sexual desire, arousal disorder, and orgasmic disorder in a female subject in need thereof comprising:
 a dosage form selected from capsules, tablets, oral drops, infused edibles, infused food preparations, massage oils, lotions, gels, creams, lubricants, patches, and suppositories, the dosage form containing:
 a therapeutically effective amount of a cannabinoid component comprising at least one of tetrahydrocannabinol and cannabidiol; and 
 a therapeutically effective amount of a sexual response component selected from sildenafil, tadalafil, vardenafil, L-arginine, yohimbe,  ginseng, gingko biloba , horny goat weed, and herbal supplements that increase blood flow to the female genital region and are not cannabinoids, 
   the cannabinoid component and the sexual response component effectively treating the female sexual dysfunction in the female subject in need thereof.   
     
     
         13 . The composition of  claim 12 , wherein the cannabinoid component contains about 10-250 mg of cannabidiol. 
     
     
         14 . The composition of  claim 13 , wherein the cannabinoid component further contains at least one additional cannabinoid. 
     
     
         15 . The composition of  claim 12 , wherein the sexual response component is selected from the group consisting of L-arginine, yohimbe,  ginseng, gingko biloba , horny goat weed, and herbal supplements that increase blood flow to the female genital region and are not cannabinoids. 
     
     
         16 . A composition for treatment of male sexual dysfunction selected from erectile dysfunction, low sexual desire, arousal disorder, and orgasmic disorder in a male subject in need thereof comprising:
 a dosage form selected from capsules, tablets, oral drops, infused edibles, infused food preparations, massage oils, lotions, gels, creams, lubricants, patches, and suppositories, the dosage form containing:
 a therapeutically effective amount of a cannabinoid component comprising at least one of tetrahydrocannabinol and cannabidiol; and 
 a therapeutically effective amount of a sexual response component selected from sildenafil, tadalafil, vardenafil, L-arginine, yohimbe,  ginseng, gingko biloba , horny goat weed, and herbal supplements that increase blood flow to the female genital region and are not cannabinoids, 
   the cannabinoid component and the sexual response component effectively treating the male sexual dysfunction in the male subject in need thereof.   
     
     
         17 . The composition of  claim 16 , wherein the cannabinoid component contains about 10-250 mg of tetrahydrocannabinol. 
     
     
         18 . The composition of  claim 17 , wherein the cannabinoid component further contains cannabidiol. 
     
     
         19 . The composition of  claim 16 , wherein the sexual response component is selected from the group consisting of L-arginine, yohimbe,  ginseng, gingko biloba , horny goat weed, and herbal supplements that increase blood flow to the male genital region and are not cannabinoids. 
     
     
         20 . The composition of  claim 19 , wherein the dosage form is selected from infused edibles, infused food preparations, massage oils, lotions, gels, creams, lubricants, patches, and suppositories.
