Process for producing and packaging articles of manufacture

Abstract

A process for producing and packaging articles of manufacture for creating an array of articles of manufacture. The process may include producing a first article of manufacture comprising a first intensive property and producing a second article of manufacture comprising a second intensive property. The process may also include packaging the first article of manufacture in a first package, and packaging the second article of manufacture in a second package. Each of the first and second packages may comprise a common single source identifier. The first intensive property may be different than the second intensive property. The first package may comprise a first product designation that connotes softness and the second package may comprise a second product designation that connotes strength. The first and second articles of manufacture may be toilet tissue products.

What is claimed is: 
     
         1 . A process for making an array of articles of manufacture, the process comprising:
 producing a first article of manufacture comprising a first Lint Value;   producing a second article of manufacture comprising a second Lint Value;   packaging the first article of manufacture in a first package;   packaging the second article of manufacture in a second package;   wherein each of the first and second packages comprise a common single source identifier;   wherein the first Lint Value is greater than the second Lint Value;   wherein the first package comprises a first product designation that connotes softness;   wherein the second package comprises a second product designation that connotes strength; and   wherein the first article of manufacture is a first toilet tissue product and wherein the second article of manufacture is a second toilet tissue product.   
     
     
         2 . The process of  claim 1 , wherein the process further comprises:
 producing a third article of manufacture comprising a third Lint Value;   packaging the third article of manufacture in a third package; and   wherein the third package comprises the common single source identifier.   
     
     
         3 . The process of  claim 1 , wherein the first toilet tissue product has at least two plies and the second toilet tissue product has at least two plies. 
     
     
         4 . The process of  claim 2 , wherein the third toilet tissue product is single-ply and the third Lint Value is different than the first and second Lint Values. 
     
     
         5 . The process of  claim 1 , wherein the first and second product designations are non-verbal cues. 
     
     
         6 . The process of  claim 5 , wherein the non-verbal cues are selected from the group consisting of word(s), symbol(s), representation(s), and combinations thereof. 
     
     
         7 . The process of  claim 1 , wherein at least one of the first and second toilet tissue products is a pattern densified fibrous structure. 
     
     
         8 . The process of  claim 1 , wherein the second toilet tissue product has a greater Total Dry Tensile Strength than the first toilet tissue product. 
     
     
         9 . The process of  claim 1 , wherein the first and second toilet tissue products each differ in Basis Weight. 
     
     
         10 . The process of  claim 1 , wherein at least one of the first and second toilet tissue product packages comprises a representation of a texture present on the toilet tissue product within the at least one of the first or second toilet tissue product packages. 
     
     
         11 . The process of  claim 2 , wherein the first, second, and third articles of manufacture exhibit at least one value of a common intensive property, beyond Lint Value, that is different from the other two articles of manufacture. 
     
     
         12 . The process of  claim 11 , wherein the common intensive property is selected from the group consisting of softness, Total Dry Tensile Strength, Basis Weight, texture, absorbency, and combinations thereof. 
     
     
         13 . The process of  claim 1 , wherein the first and second articles of manufacture exhibits a softness that is different from the other by about 0.2 Panel Score Unit (PSU) or greater, and wherein the first article of manufacture is softer than the second article of manufacture. 
     
     
         14 . A process for making an array of articles of manufacture, the process comprising:
 producing a first article of manufacture comprising a first Total Dry Tensile Strength;   producing a second article of manufacture comprising a second Total Dry Tensile Strength;   packaging the first article of manufacture in a first package;   packaging the second article of manufacture in a second package;   wherein each of the first and second packages comprise a common single source identifier;   wherein the first Total Dry Tensile Strength is lower than the second Total Dry Tensile Strength;   wherein the first package comprises a first product designation that connotes softness;   wherein the second package comprises a second product designation that connotes strength; and   wherein the first article of manufacture is a first toilet tissue product and wherein the second article of manufacture is a second toilet tissue product.   
     
     
         15 . The process of  claim 14 , wherein the process further comprises:
 producing a third article of manufacture comprising a third Lint Value;   packaging the third article of manufacture in a third package; and   wherein the third package comprises the common single source identifier   
     
     
         16 . The process of  claim 14 , wherein the first toilet tissue product has at least two plies and the second toilet tissue product has at least two plies. 
     
     
         17 . The process of  claim 15 , wherein the third toilet tissue product is a single-ply sanitary tissue product and the third Lint Value is different than the first and second Lint Values. 
     
     
         18 . The process of  claim 14 , wherein the first and second product designations are non-verbal cues. 
     
     
         19 . The process of  claim 18 , wherein the non-verbal cues are selected from the group consisting of word(s), symbol(s), representation(s), and combinations thereof. 
     
     
         20 . The process of  claim 14 , wherein at least one of the first and second toilet tissue products is a pattern densified fibrous structure. 
     
     
         21 . The process of  claim 14 , wherein the first toilet tissue product has a greater Lint Value than the second toilet tissue product. 
     
     
         22 . The process of  claim 14 , wherein the first and second toilet tissue products each differ in Basis Weight. 
     
     
         23 . The process of  claim 14 , wherein at least one of the first and second toilet tissue product packages comprises a representation of a texture present on the toilet tissue product within the at least one of the first or second toilet tissue product packages. 
     
     
         24 . The process of  claim 15 , wherein the first, second, and third articles of manufacture exhibit at least one value of a common intensive property, beyond Total Dry Tensile Strength, that is different from the other two articles of manufacture. 
     
     
         25 . The process of  claim 24 , wherein the common intensive property is selected from the group consisting of Lint Value, softness, Basis Weight, texture, absorbency, and combinations thereof. 
     
     
         26 . The process of  claim 14 , wherein the first and second articles of manufacture exhibit a softness that is different from the other by about 0.2 PSU or greater, and wherein the first article of manufacture is softer than the second article of manufacture. 
     
     
         27 . The process of  claim 14 , wherein at least one of the first and second Total Dry Tensile Strengths is from 59 g/cm (150 g/in) to 394 g/cm (1000 g/in). 
     
     
         28 . The process of  claim 14 , wherein at least one of the first and second Total Dry Tensile Strengths is from 98 g/cm (250 g/in) to 335 g/cm (850 g/in). 
     
     
         29 . A process for making an array of articles of manufacture, the process comprising:
 producing, by a first manufacturer for enabling the creation of the array of articles of manufacture on a shelf in a retail store, a first article of manufacture comprising a first Lint Value and a first Total Dry Tensile Strength;   producing, by the first manufacturer for enabling the creation of the array of articles of manufacture on the shelf in the retail store, a second article of manufacture comprising a second Lint Value and a second Total Dry Tensile Strength;   packaging the first article of manufacture in a first package;   packaging the second article of manufacture in a second package;   wherein each of the first and second packages comprise a common single source identifier;   wherein the first Lint Value is greater than the second Lint Value;   wherein the second Total Dry Tensile Strength is greater than the first Total Dry Tensile Strength;   wherein the first article is softer than the second article according to a Panel Score Unit (PSU);   wherein the first package comprises a first product designation that connotes softness;   wherein the second package comprises a second product designation that connotes strength; and   wherein the first article of manufacture is a first toilet tissue product and wherein the second article of manufacture is a second toilet tissue product.   
     
     
         30 . The process of  claim 29 , wherein the first and second articles of manufacture exhibits a softness that is different from the other by about 0.2 PSU, wherein the Total Dry Tensile Strengths of the second article of manufacture is greater 98 g/cm (250 g/in), and wherein each of the first and second articles of manufacture are multi-ply.
