Abstract
The invention relates to a hydrolysable binder based on an ABAB type polysiloxane copolymer suitable for the preparation of coating compositions with an improved anti-adhesive and/or dirt-repellent surface.

10 . A method of providing a surface with water and oil repellency comprising:
applying to a surface, a coating composition comprising: a hydrolysable binder comprising the reaction product of i) at least one polysiloxane of monomer A′ of formula (A″):
wherein each R 1 is an unsubstituted or substituted C 1-20 alkyl, C 2-20 alkenyl, C 3-20 cycloalkyl, C 6-20 aryl, C 7-20 arylalkyl group or a polyoxyalkylene chain,
X and Y are the same and represent (CH 2 ) x′ —OH or —(CH 2 ) x′ —COOH or —(CH 2 ) x′ —COOR;
x′ is 1 to 5;
R is C 1-6 alkyl; and
n is 10-300,
and
ii) at least one second monomer B′ of formula
RcOOC-Q-COORc (formula B″)
or
Rc′O-Q-ORc′ (formula B′″)
where aliphatic, cycloalkyl, cycloalkenyl, polyoxyalkylene or C ≤20 aromatic group or a covalent bond or a linear polysiloxane and each Rc and Rc′ are the same or different and represent H, C 1-20 alkyl, C 2-20 alkenyl, C 6-20 aryl, C 3-20 cycloalkyl group or C 7-20 arylalkyl group,
with the proviso that the Re or Rc′ groups in (formula B″) or (formula B′″) are selected to react with the X and Y groups in monomer A′ to form an ester group.
11 . The method according to claim 10 , wherein said hydrolysable binder comprises the reaction product of at least one polysiloxane of monomer A′ which is at least one monomer selected from the group consisting of
where X′ is 1 to 10;
R 10 , R 11 and R 12 are each independently C 2-6 alkylene;
a and b are each independently 0-50 and a+b=1-50; and
n′ and in are independently 0-500 and n′+m=1=500.
12 . The method according to claim 10 , wherein monomer B′ is
wherein Rd is a saturated, unsaturated or aromatic C 3 -C 8 ring.
13 . The method according to claim 10 , wherein monomer B′ is

Rd is a saturated, unsaturated or aromatic C 3 -C 8 ring; and
R 3 and R 4 in Formula (III) are each independently a straight or branched chain C 1-20 alkyl group; a straight or branched chain C 2-10 alkenyl group; a C 6-20 aryl group, a C 7-20 arylalkyl group; and a C 3-20 cycloalkyl group.
14 . The method according to claim 10 , wherein monomer B′ is HO-Q-OH diol where Q is an aliphatic, polyoxyalkylene, cycloalkyl, cycloalkenyl or C ≤20 aromatic group.
15 . The method according to claim 10 , wherein monomers A′ and B′ undergo a polymerization reaction to form a copolymer of structure -[ABAB]-.
16 . The method according to claim 15 , wherein the copolymer backbone contains a polyoxyalkylene moiety.
17 . The method according to claim 10 , wherein said coating composition further comprises at least one of filler, pigment, solvent, additive, curing agent and catalyst.
18 . The method according to claim 10 , wherein x′ is 2 to 5;
R is C 1-6 alkyl; and
n is 15-100.
19 . The method according to claim 11 , wherein X′ is 1 to 5.
20 . The method according to claim 11 , wherein X′ is 2 to 5.
21 . The method according to claim 11 , wherein X′ is 3 to 5.
22 . The method according to claim 12 , wherein Rd is a saturated, unsaturated or aromatic C 5 -C 6 ring.
23 . The method according to claim 10 , wherein monomer B′ is
wherein
Rd is a saturated, unsaturated, or aromatic C 5 -C 6 ring; and
R 3 and R 4 are each independently a straight or branched chain alkyl group, a straight or branched chain alkenyl group, an arylalkyl group, or a cycloalkyl group,
wherein the straight or branched chain alkyl group is a C 1-10 alkyl group or a C 1-6 alkyl group or a alkyl group,
the straight or branched chain alkenyl group is a C 2-6 alkenyl group,
the arylalkyl group is a C 7-12 arylalkyl group, and
the cycloalkyl group is a C 4-15 cycloalkyl group or a C 5-10 cycloalkyl group.
24 . The method according to claim 14 , wherein, Q represents an alkylene chain having up to 10 carbon atoms.
