Methods And Compositions For Bowel Cleansing Before A Medical Procedure

Abstract

Described are kits, food compositions and methods for cleaning the bowel, e.g., in preparation for a medical procedure, e.g., a diagnostic or treatment procedure, such as an endoscopic or surgical procedure, or radiologic imaging such as CT colography.

What is claimed is: 
     
         1 . A kit for providing a therapeutic dietary regimen comprising a plurality of therapeutic foods for the preparation of a subject's bowel for a medical procedure, wherein the kit comprises food items sufficient for all of the meals to be ingested by the subject for a specified period prior to the medical procedure, and wherein the food items are low fiber, low residue foods, and further wherein the food items have incorporated therein an amount of a laxative agent sufficient to induce in the subject the production of watery yellow stools with a light yellow effluent.
