Abstract

Methods for promoting plant growth based on novel photosafening treatment regimes with glycopyranosides including glycopyranosylglycopyranosides, and aryl-α-D-glycopyranosides, and more specifically, with one or more compounds comprising terminal mannosyl-triose, optionally in the presence of light enhanced by one or more light reflecting and/or refracting members such as silicon-based substrates. Furthermore, chemical synthesis processes for the above compounds are disclosed for general application to plants. Silicate microbeads of the like are distributed over the ground or substrate in which roots of a plant are supported and planted, beneath and around a plant in a manner that light is refracted or reflected toward the phylloplane.

Claims

exact text as granted — not AI-modified
What is claimed is:

1 . A greenhouse having an interior defined by walls having a surface, wherein one or more light reflecting and/or refracting members are adhered to said surface so as to reflect and/or refract light towards the interior of said greenhouse, said greenhouse interior containing one or more plants to which has been applied a formulation comprising one or more glycopyranosidic compounds.

2 . The greenhouse of claim 1 , wherein said one or more glycopyranosidic compounds is an alkyl-alpha-D-mannopyranose.

3 . The greenhouse of claim 2 , wherein said alkyl-alpha-D-mannopyranose is selected from the group consisting of ethyl-alpha-D-mannoside, propyl-alpha-D-mannoside, and methyl-alpha-D-mannoside.

4 . The method of claim 2 , wherein said glycopyranosidic compound is methyl-alpha-D-mannoside.

5 . The greenhouse of claim 1 , wherein said one or more light-reflecting and/or refracting members is a silicate microbead buffered to neutrality.

6 . The greenhouse of claim 1 , wherein said surface comprises a polyethylene film.

7 . The greenhouse of claim 1 , wherein said interior includes a support surface.

8 . The greenhouse of claim 7 , wherein said support surface has one or more light reflecting and/or refracting members adhered thereto.

9 . The greenhouse of claim 8 , wherein aid one or more light reflecting and/or refracting members is a silicate microbead buffered to neutrality.
