Abstract

Methods and apparatuses are provided in a wireless communication system in which configuration information for at least one subband for the terminal is received from a base station via higher layer signaling. Information indicating an active subband among the at least one subband is received from the base station. The active subband is identified based on the information. Control information or data is received from the base station in the active subband, The at least one subband is within a downlink transmission bandwidth.

What is claimed is: 
     
         1 . A method performed by a terminal in a wireless communication system, the method comprising:
 receiving, from a base station, configuration information for at least one subband for the terminal via higher layer signaling;   receiving, from the base station, information indicating an active subband among the at least one subband;   identifying the active subband based on the information; and   receiving, from the base station, control information or data in the active subband,   wherein the at least one subband is within a downlink transmission bandwidth.   
     
     
         2 . The method of  claim 1 , wherein the control information or the data is not received in a frequency band outside the active subband. 
     
     
         3 . The method of  claim 1 , wherein the configuration information for the at least one subband comprises information for indicating a location of each of the at least one subband. 
     
     
         4 . A method performed by a base station in a wireless communication system, the method comprising:
 configuring at least one subband within a downlink transmission bandwidth;   transmitting, to a terminal, configuration information for the at least one subband for the terminal via higher layer signaling;   transmitting, to the terminal, information indicating an active subband among the at least one subband; and   transmitting, to the terminal, control information or data in the active subband.   
     
     
         5 . The method of  claim 4 , wherein the control information or the data is not transmitted in a frequency band outside the active subband. 
     
     
         6 . The method of  claim 4 , wherein the configuration information for the at least one subband comprises information for indicating a location of each of the at least one subband. 
     
     
         7 . A terminal in a wireless communication system, the terminal comprising:
 a transceiver; and   at least one processor configured to:
 receive, from a base station, configuration information for at least one subband for the terminal via higher layer signaling; 
 receive, from the base station, information indicating an active subband among the at least one subband; 
 identify the active subband based on the information; and 
 receive, from the base station, control information or data in the active subband, wherein the at least one subband is within a downlink transmission bandwidth. 
   
     
     
         8 . The terminal of  claim 7 , wherein the control information or the data is not received in a frequency band outside the active subband. 
     
     
         9 . The terminal of  claim 7 , wherein the configuration information for the at least one subband comprises information for indicating a location of each of the at least one subband. 
     
     
         10 . A base station in a wireless communication system, the base station comprising:
 a transceiver; and   at least one processor configured to:
 configure at least one subband within a downlink transmission bandwidth; 
 transmit, to a terminal, configuration information for the at least one subband for the terminal via higher layer signaling; 
 transmit, to the terminal, information indicating an active subband among the at least one subband; and 
 transmit, to the terminal, control information or data in the active subband. 
   
     
     
         11 . The base station of  claim 10 , wherein the control information or the data is not transmitted in a frequency band outside the active subband. 
     
     
         12 . The base station of  claim 10 , wherein the configuration information for the at least one subband comprises information for indicating a location of each of the at least one subband.
