Abstract
Systems, devices, and methods for managing a security system are described. A method may comprise receiving a request to join a security system by a user device. A whitelist may indicate devices, device types, device makes, device models, and/or device firmware versions authorized to join the security system. The method may further comprise enabling, based on a determination that the whitelist comprises an indication that the user device is authorized to join the security system, the user device to exchange data with the security system.

13 . A method comprising:
receiving, by a first computing device located at a premises and from a second computing device located at the premises, a request to communicate with a premises management system; determining that information, received from a third computing device located external to the premises and indicating one or more devices authorized to communicate with the premises management system, comprises an indication of the second computing device; and enabling, based on the determining that the information indicating the one or more devices authorized to communicate with the premises management system comprises the indication of the second computing device, the second computing device to communicate, using one or more rules received from the third computing device, with the premises management system.
14 . The method of claim 13 , wherein the determining that the information comprises the second computing device comprises determining that the second computing device is authorized to communicate with the premises management system.
15 . The method of claim 13 , wherein, prior to the enabling the second computing device to communicate with the premises management system, the second computing device is not associated with the premises management system.
16 . The method of claim 13 , wherein the one or more devices authorized to communicate with the premises management system comprise one or more devices that are compatible with the premises management system.
17 . The method of claim 13 , wherein the one or more devices authorized to communicate with the premises management system comprise one or more trusted devices.
18 . The method of claim 13 , wherein the one or more devices authorized to communicate with the premises management system comprise one or more devices in a post-production state.
19 . The method of claim 13 , wherein the one or more rules comprise at least one of a device definition file, a rules engine, system integration instructions, a name of the device, or an icon associated with the device.
20 . The method of claim 13 , wherein the information indicating the one or more devices authorized to communicate with the premises management system comprises an indication of one or more of makes, models or firmware versions of the one or more devices authorized to communicate with the premises management system.
21 . The method of claim 13 , wherein the enabling the third computing device to communicate with the premises management system comprises defining an interface of the third computing device with the premises management system.
22 . A first computing device comprising:
one or more processors; and memory storing instructions that, when executed by the one or more processors, cause the first computing device to:
receive, from a second computing device located external to a premises, information indicating:
one or more devices authorized to communicate with a premises management system; and
one or more rules for communicating with at least one of the one or more authorized devices;
determine, based on the information indicating the one or more authorized devices, that a third computing device is authorized to communicate with the premises management system; and
enable, based on the determining that the third computing device is authorized to communicate with the premises management system, the third computing device to communicate, using the one or more rules, with the premises management system.
23 . The first computing device of claim 22 , wherein the instructions cause the first computing device to receive the indication of the one or more authorized devices based on the first computing device switching to a pairing mode.
24 . The first computing device of claim 22 , wherein the instructions cause the first computing device to determine that the information comprises the indication of the third computing device based on receiving a request associated with the third computing device.
25 . The first computing device of claim 22 , wherein the instructions cause the first computing device to determine that the information comprises the third computing device by determining that the third computing device is authorized to communicate with the premises management system.
