Abstract

Example systems and methods for cloud-based clinical content distribution and/or messaging are disclosed and described herein. An example apparatus includes an edge device to mediate between a local information system associated with a local cloud system and a remote cloud system. The example edge device analyzes the healthcare information by matching the healthcare information to a first characteristic or a second characteristic. When the healthcare information matches the first characteristic, the edge device uploads the healthcare information to the remote cloud system and allocates a first computing task to the remote cloud system for the healthcare information. When the healthcare information matches the second characteristic, the edge device stores the healthcare information at the local cloud system and allocates a second computing task to the local cloud system for the healthcare information.

Claims

exact text as granted — not AI-modified
What is claimed is:

1 . A method to integrate a local information system with a cloud-based clinical distribution system using an edge device, the method comprising:
analyzing, using at least one of a plurality of services provided by at least one processor, healthcare information generated by a local information system based on a topic identified from a message for the healthcare information to determine whether to upload the healthcare information to a remote cloud system or store the healthcare information at a local cloud system associated with the local information system; when the topic matches a first topic, automatically uploading the healthcare information to the remote cloud system and allocating a first computing task to the remote cloud system for the healthcare information; and when the topic matches a second topic, automatically storing the healthcare information at the local cloud system and allocating a second computing task to the local cloud system for the healthcare information.

2 . The method of claim 1 , wherein the first and second topics include at least one of: (i) a computing task to be performed using the healthcare information, (ii) a content of the healthcare information, (iii) a storage destination of the healthcare information, (iv) a source of the healthcare information, (v) an information type of the healthcare information, (vi) a level of confidentiality associated with the healthcare information, (vii) a clinical expertise associated with the healthcare information, (viii) a type of clinical case associated with the healthcare information, or (ix) an association with a patient undergoing a medical procedure performed by a clinician associated with a first healthcare entity.

3 . The method of claim 1 , wherein the local cloud system and the remote cloud system form a hybrid cloud system coordinated at least in part by the edge device to allocate computing tasks and manage information flow between the local information system, the local cloud system, and the remote cloud system.

4 . The method of claim 1 , further including removing the healthcare information from the local cloud system after completion of a condition.

5 . The method of claim 4 , wherein the condition includes at least one of passage of a time period or completion of a healthcare task related to the healthcare information.

6 . The method of claim 1 , further including securely connecting the edge device to a plurality of local information systems via at least one proxy adapter.

7 . The method of claim 1 , wherein the healthcare information includes at least one of a patient record or an exam record.

8 . A tangible computer-readable storage medium comprising instructions that, when executed, cause at least one processor of an edge device to at least:
analyzing, using at least one of a plurality of services, healthcare information generated by a local information system based on a topic identified from a message for the healthcare information to determine whether to upload the healthcare information to a remote cloud system or store the healthcare information at a local cloud system associated with the local information system; when the topic matches a first topic, automatically uploading the healthcare information to the remote cloud system and allocating a first computing task to the remote cloud system for the healthcare information; and when the topic matches a second topic, automatically storing the healthcare information at the local cloud system and allocating a second computing task to the local cloud system for the healthcare information.

9 . The computer-readable storage medium of claim 8 , wherein the first and second topics include at least one of: (i) a computing task to be performed using the healthcare information, (ii) a content of the healthcare information, (iii) a storage destination of the healthcare information, (iv) a source of the healthcare information, (v) an information type of the healthcare information, (vi) a level of confidentiality associated with the healthcare information, (vii) a clinical expertise associated with the healthcare information, (viii) a type of clinical case associated with the healthcare information, or (ix) an association with a patient undergoing a medical procedure performed by a clinician associated with a first healthcare entity.

10 . The computer-readable storage medium of claim 8 , wherein the local cloud system and the remote cloud system form a hybrid cloud system coordinated at least in part by the edge device to allocate computing tasks and manage information flow between the local information system, the local cloud system, and the remote cloud system.

11 . The computer-readable storage medium of claim 8 , wherein the instructions, when executed, cause the at least one processor to remove the healthcare information from the local cloud system after completion of a condition.

12 . The computer-readable storage medium of claim 11 , wherein the condition includes at least one of passage of a time period or completion of a healthcare task related to the healthcare information.

13 . The computer-readable storage medium of claim 8 , wherein the instructions, when executed, cause the at least one processor to securely connect the edge device to a plurality of local information systems via at least one proxy adapter.

14 . The computer-readable storage medium of claim 8 , wherein the healthcare information includes at least one of a patient record or an exam record.

15 . The computer-readable storage medium of claim 8 , wherein the analyzing of the healthcare information is triggered by a message queue consumer identifying the message in a message queue of at least one of the remote cloud system or the local cloud system.

16 . The computer-readable storage medium of claim 8 , wherein the instructions, when executed, cause the at least one processor to publish the topic on a data bus.

17 . The computer-readable storage medium of claim 16 , wherein the instructions, when executed, cause the at least one processor to publish the topic according to a quality of service file.

18 . The computer-readable storage medium of claim 8 , wherein the instructions, when executed, cause the at least one processor to configure a duration of storage and an access permission for the healthcare information.

19 . The computer-readable storage medium of claim 8 , wherein the first computing task includes at least one of storing or enabling access.
