Abstract

The present invention relates to an antibacterial protein EFAL-2 derived from bacteriophage Ent-FAP-4 (deposition number KCTC 12854BP), a pharmaceutical composition including the same as an active ingredient, and a method for preventing or treating diseases caused by Enterococcus faecium by using the pharmaceutical composition, the antibacterial protein EFAL-2 being characterized by having the ability capable of killing Enterococcus faecium and having an amino acid sequence represented by SEQ ID NO: 2.

Claims

exact text as granted — not AI-modified
1 . An antibacterial protein EFAL-2 which has bacteriolytic ability against Enterococcus faecium and an amino acid sequence represented by SEQ ID NO: 1.

2 . The antibacterial protein EFAL-2 of claim 1 , wherein the antibacterial protein EFAL-2 is derived from bacteriophage Ent-FAP-4 (Accession number: KCTC 12854BP).

         3 . A gene for coding the antibacterial protein EFAL-2 of claim 1 .

4 . The gene of claim 3 , wherein the gene has a nucleotide sequence represented by SEQ ID NO: 1.

5 . An Escherichia coli transformant TOP10-pBAD-EFAL-2 (Accession number: KCTC 13177BP) used for production of the antibacterial protein EFAL-2 of claim 1 .

6 . A method for manufacturing the antibacterial protein EFAL-2 of claim 1 using Escherichia coli TOP10-pBAD-EFAL-2 (Accession number: KCTC 13177BP).

7 . A pharmaceutical composition for preventing or treating diseases caused by Enterococcus faecium , the pharmaceutical composition comprising: the antibacterial protein EFAL-2 of claim 1 as an active ingredient.

8 . The pharmaceutical composition of claim 7 , wherein the pharmaceutical composition is used in a form of a pharmaceutical composition further containing an antibiotic.

9 . A method for preventing or treating diseases caused by Enterococcus faecium , the method comprising:
administering the pharmaceutical composition of claim 7 to a subject to be treated.

10 . The method of claim 9 , wherein the pharmaceutical composition is administered in a form of a pharmaceutical composition containing an antibiotic to the subject to be treated.
