Abstract
A medical safety device for holding and protecting medical circuitry connected between a medical patient and medical equipment is provided. The device can include an outer shell with an exterior sidewall and an interior sidewall defining an open interior. The outer shell can include a door that can be opened to allow access to the interior of the shell. The outer shell can include at least one latch for selectively securing the door in a closed position. The exterior shell can include connecting components for connecting the device to a hospital or surgical bed frame. The interior of the outer shell can include a grooved section having one or more grooves. The grooves can be configured to hold and retain different types of medical circuitry, such as cords, wires, tubes and the like.

1 . A device configured for protecting and retaining one or more medical circuits connected between a patient and medical equipment, comprising:
a tube, including: an exterior sidewall; an interior sidewall; a hollow interior; openings on each end of the tube for allowing the one or more medical circuits to pass through the hollow interior of the tube; and a mold conforming to a lower portion of the hollow interior, the mold having a plurality of grooves defined therein configured for holding at least one tube or cable from the one or more medical circuits; wherein the tube comprises a first section and a second section slidably receivable within the first section that enables a selectively adjustable length; wherein the second section includes an exterior diameter less than an interior diameter of the first section for allowing the first section to slidably receive the second section; wherein the second section includes a plurality of fastener openings defined in the exterior sidewall of the tube and spaced apart along a length of the second section, the fastener openings configured to selectively secure the first section to the second section at a predetermined length; and securing means for removably securing the tube to an object, the securing means provided on the exterior sidewall, wherein said securing means comprise a pair of objects extending in a generally perpendicular direction from an axis of the tube.
2 . The device of claim 1 , wherein the tube is selectively adjustable to a length greater than two feet.
3 . The device of claim 1 , wherein the plurality of grooves include at least two grooves of at least 1.5-inch diameter
4 . A medical circuit protector device, comprising:
a cylindrical tube having an interior sidewall defining an interior portion of the device and an exterior sidewall, the cylindrical tube comprising a first section and a second section slidably receivable within the first section to enable the device to have a selectively adjustable length; a pair of openings located at each end of the cylindrical tube for allowing one or more medical circuits to extend through the device; a plurality of grooves defined in the interior portion of the device, the grooves configured to hold the one or more medical circuits within the device; a clamp attachment provided on a section of the exterior sidewall of the cylindrical tube, the clamp attachment configured to removably attach the device to a second medical device; wherein the second section includes an exterior diameter less than an interior diameter of the first section for allowing the first section to slidably receive the second section; wherein the second section includes a plurality of fasteners formed with the exterior sidewall of the cylindrical tube and spaced apart along a length of the second section, the fasteners configured to attach to the first section to selectively secure the first section to the second section at a desired length of the medical circuit protector device; securing means provided on the exterior sidewall, the securing means configured to allow the medical circuit protector device to be selectively secured to the second medical device, wherein the securing means comprise a second plurality of fasteners extending in a generally perpendicular direction from an axis of the cylindrical tube; and wherein the medical circuit protector device is configured to protect and secure the one or more medical circuits within the medical circuit protector device when the medical circuit protector device is attached to the second medical device and the one or more medical circuits are connected between a patient and medical equipment.
5 . The medical circuit protector device of claim 4 , further comprising at least one door provided on the cylindrical tube for providing access to the interior portion of the device.
6 . The medical circuit protector device of claim 5 , further comprising a latch provided on the door, the latch configured for releasably securing the door.
7 . The medical circuit protector device of claim 5 , wherein the at least one door comprises a first door and a second door which are selectively openable to allow access to an interior of the cylindrical tube.
8 . The medical circuit protector device of claim 7 , wherein the at least one latch is configured to secure the first door and the second door in a closed position.
9 . The medical circuit protector device of claim 4 , further comprising a plurality of circuit grooves positioned in the cylindrical tube.
10 . The medical circuit protector device of claim 9 , wherein the plurality of circuit grooves includes a pair of first grooves and a pair of second grooves, the first grooves having a diameter different than a diameter of the second grooves.
11 . The medical circuit protector device of claim 10 , wherein the pair of first grooves are configured to receive an inspiratory anesthesia circuit tubing and an expiratory anesthesia circuit tubing.
12 . The medical circuit protector device of claim 4 , wherein the plurality of grooves is located at a lower portion of the cylindrical tube.
13 . The medical circuit protector device of claim 4 , wherein the securing means are provided on a lower section of the exterior sidewall of the cylindrical tube.
14 . The medical circuit protector device of claim 4 , wherein the securing means comprise a plurality of clamps.
15 . The medical circuit protector device of claim 14 , wherein each clamp is positioned adjacent to an end of the cylindrical tube.
16 . A medical circuit protector device, comprising:
a hollow cylindrical tube having an exterior sidewall and an interior sidewall; wherein the hollow cylindrical tube comprises a first shell section and a second shell section, the second shell section being slidably receivable within the first shell section for selectively adjusting a length of the medical circuit protector device; wherein the hollow cylindrical tube includes at least one door, the at least one door connected to the hollow cylindrical tube for providing access to an interior portion of the medical protector device; an opening defined through each end of the hollow cylindrical tube; at least one latch provided on the exterior sidewall, the latch configured for allowing the hollow cylindrical tube to be selectively opened and closed; a plurality of circuit grooves provided on the interior sidewall, the plurality of circuit grooves configured for retaining one or more medical circuits within the tube; and securing means provided on the exterior sidewall, the securing means configured for allowing the medical circuit protector device to be selectively secured to an object; and a circuit groove configured in the hollow cylindrical tube and against the interior sidewall, the circuit groove containing the plurality of circuit grooves; wherein the plurality of circuit grooves includes a plurality of first grooves and a plurality of second grooves, the plurality of first grooves having a diameter greater than the plurality of second grooves.
17 . The medical circuit protector device of claim 16 wherein the plurality of first grooves are sized to receive an inspiratory anesthesia circuit tubing and an expiratory anesthesia circuit tubing.
18 . The medical circuit protector device of claim 16 , wherein the securing means comprise a pair of securing objects extending in a generally linear direction from the hollow cylindrical tube.
19 . The medical circuit protector device of claim 16 , wherein the securing means comprise a plurality of securing objects extending in a generally an angled position from the hollow cylindrical tube.
